Game Thread BCS Championship Game, tOSU vs. Florida - Jan 8th

wow... what can i say? i didn't see THAT coming.

gotta admit, when i saw them line up, i knew 2 things: 1) that we weren't gonna make it, and 2) that there wasn't going to be any comeback.

i'm still not really sure what happened, but all i know is that it happened so fast, that i didn't have time to get pissed off. one minute it was a game, and the next minute, i knew we were going to get blown out. all i could do was laugh...

losing TG2 hurt. badly. but i'm not going to put it all on him. EVERYONE played like crap...

I think your right on with this. Although we all know it's easy to say it now. But it was very unlike Tressel to go for something like that considering score, field position, etc., etc. Not a good time or place to take a chance like that. And yeah I know it's easy to second guess that decision today but, 9/10 times JT punts the ball and flips the field. Still, there were so many other factors that led to this shullackin'. I've been trying to figure out why we did, didn't do a lot of things last night. But guess we'll never really know.........

I felt terrible last night. I felt very empty because I knew that they could have played better. I wasn't dissapointed in the team at all. But I felt they could have played better. A result of that was that we didn't have Ted Ginn. But there will be more opportunities where Ohio State will go to the National Championship. We should look at this game as a pointer for next year. If we learn from this, we could very likely be in the National Championship next year. It always hurts to see the Bucks lose, but there is always tomorrow. I feel we should put the game behind us and get ready for 2007 and the Spring game. GO BUCKS!

Though it hurts I also agree. I wanted to see Troy go out on the very top.

I can remember when my high school bball team lost in the state semis after rolling through the regular season and the playoffs. We were favored to win the state title that year but were upset. This team went on to win the state title the next three years.

Not saying that we will participate in the NC the next three years but, we can take from the mistakes of this game and get better or, at least I hope.

Congrats on great win and thanks for not being a tool. You should enjoy your win and savor it all in, it goes by much too quickly.

Having said all that, I really hope we get a chance to redeem ourselves soon and show the world (again) what we can do.

Cheers!

Well, from what I saw, there wasn't a whole lot of "adjustments" Tressel could have made. That's why he went for it on fourth down, because he knew. We just got it handed to us hard, no excuses. People have been arguing all year around the country that the SEC was better than the Big Ten, and I didn't want to believe it. You guys will hate me for this, but there's probably four teams in the SEC who would have beat us last night. It's not disloyalty, just obvious. So give Tressel a break and quit looking for dumb excuses like play calling or adjustments. They were just better than us......by alot.

Now I'm no football expert but adjustments are a part of nearly every game. It's a matter of reailizing what adjustments may be helpful and injecting those in your play calling as the game moves along.
You are correct that last night Florida was better than us, and maybe any night Florida would have been better than us, I just don't believe that Florida saw our best
Pardon me for a second....I was just trying to think of a "dumb excuse" I can come up with for even responding to you.

Intelligent convo is one thing, but I can't accept people coming on this site to simply proclaim the merits of a conference...not their team...their conference.

Who gives a rat's ass?

It's the South and it's about family and which truck you drive... A few years ago I accompanied a former athlete of mine to Duke to watch him compete in the NCAA Track and Field finals. It came down to a dual in the very last event, the 4X400 relay, and the PAC 10 fans and athletes were cheering hard for Stanford and chanting, "PAC 10, PAC 10!" All the SEC fans were rooting for Arkansas and chanting, "SEC, SEC!"

I respect that. You want your conference to be tough. What's the point in winning the conference if it's nothing but a line up of cream puffs? Case in point, Notre Dame winning the commander-in-chief's trophy.

I am almost to the point of selling my house and getting the hell out of this state, never to return. I have been in Florida for 18 years, not because I decided to, but because my company moved me here in order to keep my job and have a chance to retire. All that happened it nice fashion and I am thankful for that. But living here amongst Gator people is not an easy thing to do.

Last nights game was an a abomination which is hard for me to live down. Under Tressels years we have had some great moments of football but this one is the lowest in my estimation and not even an explanation on why it has happened. I have watched many of Tressels games with YSU and have come to expect games of this nature, where his teams have come back time after time to win it in the end.

I realize after having no contact football for 51 days is understandable but the preperation for a game of this magnatude should warrant some explanation on what the hell went wrong. I told alot of people down here in Florida that for the 1st 2 quarters Ohio State would have a hard time making adjustments and that they would not look like the same team that beat Michigan on Nov, 18th. True and granted the lay-off hurt this team efforts but then again Urban Meyer had 37 days to come up with a game plan to stop Troy Smith and it came to fruition. Which makes me think did Tressel and his staff do thier homework as good as Urban Meye and his people. Apparently not. It was not good when Tressel and his staff decided to go for it on the 29 yard in a 4th and 1 situation. And when that did not work, you knew we just sold the farm on that one. So with that said, I guess i will rest my case and hope we or somebody can come up with a better reason why Ohio State let this one slip away.

I guess you can look at it this way: A lot of the OSU bandwagon fans (like those ones that signed up today and say how much you guys suck) will be gone! I hate it when people do that. Sign up and just trash a team. Makes them look bad and really puts everyone else in a bad mood.

For whatever it is worth, I think many fans got caught in the delusion that Ohio State could become a dynasty in the same vein as USC lately or Florida State in the 90s, competing for titles year in and year out. I don't think that is realistic. We play in a tougher conference. We travel away from home to play in the big bowl games. And we don't have the bright lights of the big city, or the cool breeze of the ocean to lure premadonna recruits (that can play some ball).

Remember, we went from '68 until '02 without a title. We never even had a chance for a title in a bowl game under Cooper. And I think it's fair to say that, with Tressel, we'll be back soon enough.
Why not become a dynasty? It could definatley happen here and it's been on the verge. We win in 02. If Clarett dosen't become Clarett there is one hell of a chance we are there again in 03. We were there this year. If troy dosen't take $500 we very well could have been there last year too. That would be 4 in 5 years. This team is one of the premier programs under JT, don't rule out a USC run. While the Big10 makes it tougher, it what makes it all the sweeter.

Go Gators: Congrats to your N/C of 2006. You deserved all of it. You out-played us in every aspect. You come on as a Gator fan who respects all teams of NCAA football teams. It was a great season for both of The Ohio
State University and the Florida Gators

I agree completely.

We got it handed to us. EVERYONE gets beat. It's how you react to it. I truly believe this game will be but a side note in JT's career.

41-14. Yet hearing TBDBITL play Carmen Ohio still gives me chills. Wouldn't wanna be anywhere else than here.
