Game Thread BCS Championship Game, tOSU vs. Florida - Jan 8th

History is made under improbable circumstances. We all know our Buckeyes have the ability and the heart to overcome even this ugly a deficit, but what we can't account for is Florida's desire and execution -- which is flawless. I didn't buy into the comparisons to the 2002 Buckeyes, but it seems clear that Florida's got that 'team of destiny' look to it.

Don't ever count Jim Tressel or Troy Smith out. If it's 48-14 at the end of the 3rd quarter, don't count them out.

We may lose this game. We probably should lose the game. But this is the national championship. Even this half doesn't diminish what this team accomplished this year, and there's plenty of time remaining for the creation of legend.

So relax. Enjoy the game as best you can. Find, as difficult as it is, respect for Florida's truly amazing execution, and Urban Meyer's capacity as a head coach.

Now, if you need something to make yourself feel better, consider that 14 of their points came from exceptional field position realized by really dumb personal foul penalties, and that we've turned the ball over *2* times in the half. We should be down 20. Hell, it might be that we should be down more.

Anyone with half a clue had to come into this game a little worried about the first half. What Florida does with the ball when we kick it off to start the second half, rather, what our defense does to Florida then, will set the tone for the rest of the game.

Anyway, enjoy another national championship game, all. I know it's hard to when everything (including our own play) is going against us, but that's just how it goes sometimes. If the whole of the game plays out what the first half suggested, that Florida is simply a superior team, then we may find peace in the trophy going to those who most deserved it. If we lose a close one after an amazing comeback in the second half, then we'll forever wonder what could have been if X, Y, or Z hadn't happened in the first half. A football fan's purgatory. But, if we somehow manage to crawl out of this hole we created -- that Florida created -- in the first half, if we manage to win? Everything we believe about these teams, and these players, particularly Troy Smith, it will all become legend even before they leave the field.

It's college football, we're still the Buckeyes, Troy Smith is still the Heisman Trophy winner, and for good reason. Jim Tressel is still the only coach we want at the head of our team. Should we lose, let's do it (as fans) with the same grace we might expect of JT.

Now, all that aside, is anyone else annoyed by the little clips of football interrupting the otherwise steady stream of repetitive commercials?

The D has to come out and make a stop. It HAS to. If you can go get a stop, and a TD then you can relax and play your game. YOU HAVE TO GET A STOP.

Out of everything you said this is the most important thing that has to be done. It is the only hope the Bucks have. Heacock needs to do more than lay back in a soft zone. His game plan sure looked like one in which he was scared of the big play and decided to allow Leak to attempt to beat them throwing underneath. And that is exactly what he has done and I didn't see any changes at all in the first half.

I haven't posted here since I congratulated you for beating my Horns. WHAT IS ALL OF THIS QUIT I AM READING HERE? THERE IS STILL A FULL HALF OF FOOTBALL. YOU STILL HAVE A GREAT TEAM AND A GREAT COACH. AND YOU ONLY NEED THREE SCORES! WAKE UP OSU FANS AND SHOW SOME FIGHT!
Capital idea. :wink2:

Are you kidding me??? The defense set up the points but I would bet the Ohio offensive players would admit that the gators "earned" the points. Just because they are not driving the length of the field doesn't mean they didn't earn the points. Take away the gimmie TD Florida spotted you on the opening kick off and it is a real blow out. Give the gators credit...they are handing it to OSU so far. Still a lot of game to play though....

The Gators are playing their hearts out, and really deserve alot of credit. But I am telling you that if Florida wanted the Buckeyes' best shot.......they just arent getting it. They played about like my High School team in that 1st half. At least in the secondary they did

ceicro or whatever, you don't know a damn thing about me so don't try to act like there is only one classification of start to end interest....honestly,what an idiot!I see a lot of posts revolving around troy smith and the fumble but ask yourselves this is game so far apart because of that?or is it because florida is having a field day with your whole defense?personally I say the latter.I personally think by reading some of the earlier posts that people didn't realize how good the gators are.Especially since they played and beat more top ranked teams than ohio state(6).As far as ohio giving their best shot against florida-I thought there were a couple whole games where florida wasn't playing like they should, which one resulted in their only loss.thats just sports

It's almost as if Tressel is out thinking himself.

I would agree. I placed a post earlier last week that coaching would make the difference but I really though Urban would be swayed by his emotions not Tress. The game is not over yet and no need to throw the coaching staff under the bus, they just ran into a buzzsaw. Let them make some halftime adjustments. Lets Go BUCKS!

The team has two choices fold their tent or battle to the final gun. I'm betting the team shows their character and battles till the end but it may not be enough. I know its a cliche, but its games like this that show a teams character the first 12 games and that first TD were relatively easy, to get back into this game the team will have to play their best half ever there capable but Fla. maybe too much today.

We ain't gonna lose "C-Dog." I've never bullshitted you, and I ain't gonna start now. We go out on top, 38-37. Little Animal goes nuts in the 2nd half. And Robiskie gets 2 TD's. (Also one by Pitt and a Pettrey FG).
