Baylor Bears (official thread)

Just hired Jim Grobe as interim coach.

Makes me wonder if more of the staff is to be let go.

Given that the little bit of what we know from the report by Pepper Hamilton clearly mentions 'coaches' plural multiple times I tend to believe that there has to be a complete house cleaning.

The speculation I've seen so far is that they were holding onto the rest of them for now in an attempt to keep the recruiting class together.

That's so far removed from being an accurate characterization that it borders on delusional.

Somehow, I never saw any of the ban-worthy posts. If they were this far off the mark, it makes sense.

100% Even here, on a football board, where my estimates are that alumni are a minority, there was a vigorous debate about JT. Not to mention our board stepping in when Gee and Smith failed to act decisively and a local and statewide press that quickly turned against Tressel. Nothing in common with Baylor, FSU and the pedsters.

while true, but your kind of splitting hairs here. yeah, id give child rape an edge on the horrific meter than woman rape but... we're still talking about being deep into the horrific meter either way.

while i in no way am an expert on what went on at pedo state, my little understanding is that they simply didn't act on the information they had received from several sources. some sources being more blatant in their accusations than others potentially. however, it "appears" rape bear went out of its way to make this stay quiet.

not acting in situations like this is bad enough. setting aside the crime for a second, but putting on a song and dance that you are taking expected action when you are really covering things up... that seems worse to me.

don't be so sure. it really depends on what actually comes of all of this. if the ncaa doesn't take any action here, and there is a good chance they will not because of the fear of pedo state 2.0, what is there that can be done? a couple cops will loose their job, sure. but what legal charges are likely to get filed? outside of sandusky, how many ex/current pedo state staffers are in prison or being held pending trial currently? if that count remains the ~0 i suspect it is baylor isn't going to take any further action than it already has. they will use a current staffer as coach this year to see how things play out. if none of the big wigs get arrested by the end of the football season they will be free to continue keeping on keeping on and little will change.

i need to look into getting a patent on "rape bear"....

and we are absolutely positive this was a texas fan and not a baylor fan cuz... pretty much super uber epic if it had been...

Well, first, Briles was made aware of the assaults on multiple occasions and decided to sweep it under the rug, and refused to even meet with any of the victims, he chose to just ignore them and blow them off. Bad move and in poor taste. He was given as much info as Ped st officials and dropped the ball altogether for, well foosball.

And now the President, HC AND AD have all been canned! Id say that Baylor has taken action and will be screwed moving forward. The difference with Baylor from Ped st, FSU even OSU, is that Baylor is a nobody in the football landscape. They had a nice run recently built on despicable acts, but historically they're nobodies. The other 3 all have seats at the big boy table and could become relevant again. Heck, if Ped st would've hired LJsr i think there would've been less of a drop off and more of a thorn in the Buckeyes side. Baylor the last few years would've been like if IU or Purdue became NC relevant teams. Baylor has been a laughingstock for their entire football existence, and it doesn't help that not only do they have multiple Power 5 schools in state, but OOS schools poach their kids annually. Its going to be that much harder to recruit now and for the foreseeable future after this fiasco. They don't have history to fall back on in this case, which will bite them

That's was bubbling below the surface, but how he approached the board was also an issue. He became the central focus of the conversation in almost any thread he stumbled across.

That should be cited in Wikipedia as an example of futility. Those guys are GONE.
