Baylor Bears (official thread)

People who think that FSU and Pedo State are worse also seem to be forgetting that Baylor's basketball players were murdering each other just a few years ago, and the coach was covering it up. Pedo State is sick, and FSU is messed up too, but Baylor is just fucking evil.

To file under Stating the Obvious:
At least PedState & FSU had only elevated a coach and a championship trophy to the level of a deity.

Baylor, on the other hand, claimed their stewardship on behalf of a capital-letter D. If nothing else, they win the gold medal in Hypocrisy.

So he seemingly posts a pic of his improper benefits and only 8 people respond in a year?

Now you see why briles resorted to so much whiny grandstanding

That pic was during his recruiting trip to Ole Miss.

Speaking of Ole Miss, they know how to time their acknowledgement of guilt don't they?

"Hey a nukular bomb just went off in Waco, let's get our news out before it clears up!"

Isn't that what we had at Penn State for 30+ years?

The football program had zero oversight from the school and it enabled a culture of violence toward women/children.

There are differences in the details to be sure but to me it's the same underlying issue.

Was there really a situation where coaches tried to influence the victims in HV? Make no mistake, there clearly were attempts to sweep things under rugs, hide truths, etc... And further, make no mistake, I'm not trying to say one situation is worse than the other... they are both completely despicable and will cause a number of people to spend their eternities in hell... but I think that @Muck is trying to get at the fact that there were examples of proactive behavior at Baylor that attempted to coerce victims...

Again, both are despicable... however, from what I've read, information about what happened at State Penn may have been more tightly held than what went on at Baylor. I don't dispute the fact that, while the information may have been more tightly held at State Penn, it was held by those who ran roughshod over the entire school. However, what happened at Baylor, presumably with wider dissemination of the information... combined with the active attempts to manipulate victims may suggest even wider culpability across the program. Read: Tall and narrow contrasted with tall-ish and wide.

True enough; an argument can be made that the State Penn situation rose to the top, and given the broad influence over the school that 'dear leader' had on the school, it should have been burned to ashes. However, I think that similar could be said for Baylor. It rose to the top of their program as well. Briles knew what was going on, clearly... and so did a number of the coaches in the program who are yet to see themselves spit-roasted. It's hard to suggest, however, that Briles had the kind of influence over the entire school that 'dear leader' had. The fact that there are document cases of Title IX issues raised to Starr's office -- where he was the final decision maker as to whether or not further action would be taken to investigate Title IX issues -- AND HE CHOSE TO NOT PURSUE -- suggests to me that Baylor should be burned to ashes as well. Baylor and State Penn are equally despicable on all counts albeit the details of those counts differ.
