Baylor Bears (official thread)

In all seriousness I think this is shaping up to be worse than the PSU scandal.

Coaches approaching victims? Not reporting the crimes to anyone? Interfering with police investigations?

This is epic level fucked up.
I disagree, it's pretty far from the PSU stratosphere, IMO. This is closer to the FSU allegations, only difference is, the cops in Tallahassee did a "better job" of covering up and the school silenced the victims so hard that they actually gave up fighting. All that you said was also done at FSU, and yet the HC and his staff stayed in tact, players missed little time, and it affected the university and the team little in the end.

PSU on the other hand had the FBI involved, and dealt with children, which is probably the most disgusting act an adult can do, as a child is essentially powerless.

But I do agree that this was/is an epic level fuck up! A Baptist school in East bumblefuck, TX goes to great lengths to finally gain national relevance in football and try and shed the red headed step child moniker, and then this scandal happens and it'll quickly send them back to lower tier status. Where idk if they can dig out of

Briles pays price for thinking he was untouchable

..../snip/...
“We were horrified by the extent of these acts of sexual violence on our campus,” Richard Willis, chairman of the Baylor Board of Regents, said after reading the report from the Pepper Hamilton law firm.

“The depth to which these acts occurred shocked and outraged us.”

Among the evidence mentioned in the Pepper Hamilton report was a reported sexual assault that involved “multiple football players.”

“The football program and athletics department leadership failed to take appropriate action in response to these reports,” the review read.

I would hope my children feel towards me as she does her dad

Don't blame her.

I'll try to remember this the next time Jay Paterno's name comes up.

I hope your children think well of you, too, and that you deserve it.

Personally, not a big fan of the "My country/family right or wrong" mentality. Far too much of the evil that occurs in the world is enabled because those with the closest view refuse to honestly see what is in front of their eyes. I have my own history with people who preferred their own daintily embroidered fictions to the truth. It's not in my constitution to excuse it.

For the record, I am adding phrases directed at those who daintily embroider to my playbook of rants and insults.

I like that one.

Maybe because it's girls being raped instead of boys? This is sick, Penn State is sick, but what sticks out is that UNIVERSITIES have proven to be morally bankrupt.

Umm no. I think people are really missing the scope of what's coming to light in Waco. Coaches actively tampering with victims of multiple crimes over an extended period is damn near unprecedented.
