Yeah, it was their OC determined to let the other team score as quickly as possible to get the Offense back on the field.Things I learned today:
Baylor had a defensive coordinator.
Bingo! CFB is now an arms race more than ever before, and schools/coaches are and will be going to desperate measures to recruit well and win big. I'm sure a lot of ADs are sweating right now, and calling their own coaches to make sure everything is either on the up and up, or that everything is concealed well enough so that they're not the next Baylor. This whole episode should make teams that have recently been successful, but classically were doormats(i.e. Ole Miss) worry that much more, because there's been smoke for a while, but the pressure to win is sometimes seems too great.Sadly, this demonstrates how desperate some coaches/schools are.. the pressure to win caused both Briles and Starr to throw away every principle they were raised with
but then again... same could be said for a number of folks in prison
I'm just guessing but, I doubt this would result in a Death Penalty if the PSU case didn't. It's going to take a scandal of even more epic proportions to drop the DP on a school, and it's going to need to be scandal that lasts quite a long time as well. I think we may see them have sanctions similar to USC, where they will lose a good number of schollies over multiple years and won't allowed to compete in bowls for multiple years, and if the Big 12 were to expand, they wouldn't be allowed to compete for a conference title. That in itself would severely cripple a school who isn't and was never built to handle a punishment like this(few schools could), even in the fertile recruiting grounds of TX.Chuck CarltonVerified account@ChuckCarltonDMN
On teleconference, outgoing regents chairman Richard Willis says Baylor has been contacted by NCAA and will cooperate.
[Mark May]'s just startin' y'all
PedState level hammer or Death Penalty?
I do think there's a chance for harsher penalties than some are expecting, though, given that it involves Title IX issues and recent football athletes and coaches. I'm not expecting anything more than a few lost scholies and a few years of postseason ban, but I think there's a chance for it. Of course, the worse penalties for Baylor could come from outside the NCAA since these were Title IX issues.
I amused by their thread of potential coaching hires. It hasn't sunk into some that their job will be toxic at least while investigations hang over there head and probably for 5+ years. Some seem to think Tom Herman would go for that dumpster fire. Not to Baylorfans there is a 95% chance he would have turned your job down without scandal let alone this mess
Correct, they do not have the balls and the Title IX investigation will likely end the same as it did for FSU and PSU, which as I recall was absolutely nothing. The US government actually seems to have smaller balls in this area than the NCAA.Indeed the Title IX investigation could literally make the university disappear. I'm not sure they will ever have the balls to go through with it for any University people have heard of though even if it is deserved.
