If you are in a position of authority, I don't think purposefully turning a blind eye to a situation that would demand action if you "knew about it" is really being passive. And by "knew about it", I mean if someone else knew that you knew about it. Know what I mean?

I think Ol Hugh will be fine, he may give up a few scholarships, and may even get away with self sanctioning. I think Sumlin and aTM should replace OM, imo. Sumlin has turned aTm into a complete dumpster since Johnny Foosball left(and he let him run rampant while there). I may even put Tenn and Butchie as a second dark horse...

Baylor's athletic department should have been shut down after this happen. It could not happen to a better school. Well maybe Penn State.

I disagree, it's pretty far from the PSU stratosphere, IMO. This is closer to the FSU allegations, only difference is, the cops in Tallahassee did a "better job" of covering up and the school silenced the victims so hard that they actually gave up fighting. All that you said was also done at FSU, and yet the HC and his staff stayed in tact, players missed little time, and it affected the university and the team little in the end.

PSU on the other hand had the FBI involved, and dealt with children, which is probably the most disgusting act an adult can do, as a child is essentially powerless.

while true, but your kind of splitting hairs here. yeah, id give child rape an edge on the horrific meter than woman rape but... we're still talking about being deep into the horrific meter either way.

while i in no way am an expert on what went on at pedo state, my little understanding is that they simply didn't act on the information they had received from several sources. some sources being more blatant in their accusations than others potentially. however, it "appears" rape bear went out of its way to make this stay quiet.

not acting in situations like this is bad enough. setting aside the crime for a second, but putting on a song and dance that you are taking expected action when you are really covering things up... that seems worse to me.

But I do agree that this was/is an epic level fuck up! A Baptist school in East bumblefuck, TX goes to great lengths to finally gain national relevance in football and try and shed the red headed step child moniker, and then this scandal happens and it'll quickly send them back to lower tier status. Where idk if they can dig out of

don't be so sure. it really depends on what actually comes of all of this. if the ncaa doesn't take any action here, and there is a good chance they will not because of the fear of pedo state 2.0, what is there that can be done? a couple cops will loose their job, sure. but what legal charges are likely to get filed? outside of sandusky, how many ex/current pedo state staffers are in prison or being held pending trial currently? if that count remains the ~0 i suspect it is baylor isn't going to take any further action than it already has. they will use a current staffer as coach this year to see how things play out. if none of the big wigs get arrested by the end of the football season they will be free to continue keeping on keeping on and little will change.

i need to look into getting a patent on "rape bear"....

It proves they are football fans. Penn State and Florida State were cesspools of institutional corruption, and their fans defend the brand to their death. Jameis Winston is just one of a long line of players who had crimes covered up by the Tallahassee DA and cops. Their fans deny what everyone else knows is fact. The Cult at Happy Valley, well, what can you say? Ohio State fans refuse to accept the fact that their beloved coach Tressel was a scumbag who repeatedly lied to his administration and the NCAA. His press conference story was shown to be totally false. The only thing goal Tress had was to knowingly and intentionally keep his completely ineligible players on the field to keep winning.

Yet Buckeyes still love Tress, and even after all of the actual information was available to them, their characterization of the stinking mess is that they were unfairly busted for players getting "free tats". Idiots. But you know what? Most fan bases are made up of idiots. Usually, non-alumni fans are the most idiotic, as they have no stake in the reputation of the institution, just the vicarious football victories.

That said, the sheer number of rapes and sexual assaults at Baylor, with the coaches running interference for the rapists, is on that different level. Baylor and Penn State and FSU are a cut above. This is not letting some idiot linebacker enroll in a sham academic admissions deal. Or even an Ole Miss cash to recruits or their handlers deal. Or Charlie Pell at Florida in the 70s ignoring any recruiting rules the NCAA had. No, this is PROTECTING AND ENABLING RACISTS AT A SUPPOSEDLY "CHRISTIAN" SCHOOL!!
