Associate HC/DL Coach Larry Johnson Sr. (Official Thread)

Agree Steve, and will also lengthen his stay at tOSU as a coach (I hope). Glad he got to do this before retiring, but when he got the title of 'Associate HC', that usually means that he's next in line for the big chair if something happens to the incumbent.

I love this guy. Now undefeated as OSU HC. I hope he will take some of that weight off. Not good to carry that at his age.
As to the bold... does this win technically count for LJ, or is it still going on Ryan Day's record? I know Day got credit for wins when he was coaching in place of Urban, but Urban was suspended from coaching at the time. Day hasn't been suspended from coaching. I don't say any of this to take away from LJ. Just curious how the record book will end up recording this.

But he’s not really making history, because he won’t be in the history books. The win will be credited to Day. Ohio State checked with the NCAA and other schools, and that’s how head coach absences for COVID are being handled. Day, basically, was out sick. So Johnson won’t go in the record books as an Ohio State head coach.
Ohio State celebrated Larry Johnson as its game day head coach -- but the problem is he only got one game: Doug Lesmerises

For those who didn’t read the article that @Trevi posted, the victory officially goes on Ryan Day’s record, as Covid related absences are being considered ‘out sick’ by colleges.

Apparently Ryan Day, not Larry Johnson, will officially get the credit for Ohio State's win per NCAA COVID-19 policy.

How do we keep this guy coaching into his 90’s?????

He's 68 years old. He's not going anywhere.

Well, hopefully when he decides the time is right, he goes to a long and happy retirement*......

* he does have 2 sons and 3 grandchildren to occupy his time.....

Larry Johnson and his father, Larry Sr., maintain a close relationship. Johnson's brother and manager, Tony Johnson, is a former starting wide receiver for Penn State from 2000–2003.

Because of memory loss, suicidal impulses, mood swings, and headaches, Johnson believes he has chronic traumatic encephalopathy (which can't be diagnosed until an autopsy is performed on the brain after death). Johnson also states that he does not remember playing two seasons. His method of dealing with the trauma is to control his social interactions and spend quality time with his daughter.

Tony Johnson is a former American football wide receiver. He played collegiately at Penn State from 2000 to 2003. His older brother is former NFL running back Larry Johnson. Tony was also Larry's manager.

Tony married his wife, Karin Grapp-Johnson, in the summer of 2009. They have two children, a boy and a girl. He now resides in Towson, MD where he remotely is able to fulfill his managing duties for older brother Larry Johnson. Tony travels often to attend and accompany Larry to Bengals home and away games.
