In Ohio, some HS football games draw 30,000+ people.I've been to the Phoenix area, multiple times, and they simply don't care as much about football as the average Ohioan. The number of revered players is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is, Ohio is insane about football, and players who are successful at OSU are living legends.starBUCKS was speaking to the indifference surrounding Robinson's commitment. His production is irrelevant. If a 5-star player from Columbus commits to OSU, there would not only be a significant amount of ink in the local papers dedicated to the commitment itself, but also to follow up stories on the remainder of that recruit's senior season.
ASU may have a good program, but in Columbus, football, at all levels, has crossed over the line from passion to obsession a long time ago, and hasn't looked back since.
Maybe I was misunderstanding some of his statements? I'm not doubting that there is a greater foootball passion in Ohio than in AZ. Phoenix is a Suns town, but there are a lot of passionate Sun Devil fans and the signing of G-Rob meant a lot to us. Maybe not the average fan, but I obviously am more passionate than the average fan. I'm just like you guys. I want a good football team in Tempe, and that means getting good recruits - especially ones that grew up 15 miles from our stadium. Take a step back for a second and look at it from my view point. Would you want anything different?
