Like Eddie George was just that guy from Philly.
Like David Boston was just that guy from Texas.
Like Lil Animal is just that guy from Minnessota.
Like Santonio Holmes was just that guy from Florida.
Like Malcolm Jenkins is just that guy from Jersey.
Like Terrelle Pryor's gonna be just that guy from Pennsylvania.

Is it any sweeter when the guy who succeeds is from Ohio? Example: AJ Hawk?

It has to be put into context, including the program. It was awesome to keep Daequan Cook & David Lighty home, and help bring in other premiere talent. Too much great local bball talent had escaped, and the last head coach didn't like the one and done types.

Being an Ohio HS superstar helps increase status coming into OSU, but our Pennsylvania star named Pryor could overtake all of JT's premiere 5-star ohioans, Clarett, Ginn, Beanie, etc in terms of status.

I think it's a bigger deal in recruiting circles and the excitement leading into college than when they actually arrive. For a program in the process of building, that portion is enormous, and takes on a lot more importance than it will once the dynasty is built. If Georgia born Antonio Henton had carved up Michigan in 04, 05 & 06 instead of Troy, he would be adored in similar fashion.

I can relate to your third paragraph best. Erickson is trying to build something in Tempe. We need a lot of help and need local recruits that will pave the way for other great local recruits. We need the trend to start sooner rather than later, and what better way than Adams and hopefully Kennard. If ASU is good enough for those guys, it is good enough for any recruit in the future. The last 5 star recruit out of AZ was Eversen Griffen and he ended up at USC. As an ASU fan, I don't want to see that happen again.

So the #1 DE recruit in the nation Devon Kennard just tore his ACL / meniscus this past weekend. He was being recruited hard by USC, ASU, Texas and UCLA among many others. Do you think this will affect any schools from going after him? Will he get looked over by the USC's of the world to go after healthy recruits?

Apparently it is against NCAA rules to make an offer to a freshman, so ASU didn't offer him, but basically told him they are very interested when he becomes eligible to get an offer. I think the kids dad was exagerating the "offer."

BN$--Adams' Ohio State Visit Will Tell The Tale

Corey's coach says tOSU has a great chance of landing Corey and the visit this weekend will make his decision for him one way or another.

He couldnt have picked a better weekend to come up for......I hope Corey likes what he sees. Anyone else coming up, or can the coaches dedicate all their energy to the "Big Cactus". [sarcasm]Think that'll stick??[/sarcasm]
