Alabama just ruined my high and our playoff chances

What sucks is that I thought that TCU was playing with the unwritten Bama jerseys yesterday; when Oklahoma beat TCU I thought Bama was out. Little did I realize last night that the Buckeyes were playing for Bama's playoff hopes as well as their own B1G Championship.

Beating TTUN on the road and winning a conference title makes this a very successful year. Knocking off the Condoms in a bowl game would make a nice capper for it.

And then I'll be rooting for Clemson to clean Bama's clock and for Gawja to knock off the Heisman-winning flag-planter.

Most Buckeye fans wanted Bama to win over Auburn and Georgia, which would have make the #4 spot clearly open for tOSU as the B1G champion. Bama didn't get it done and messed up the path for the Buckeyes, who promptly knock off Wiscy and open up the #4 spot for Bama.

That's the irony which resulted from this thread's original premise, which unfortunately was accurate.

Maybe, maybe not.

If the committee wasn’t worried about another 31-0 and we showed we had momentum, Iowa would have been overcome by Bama’s lack of good wins and conference championship. After watching us last night there’s no good reason to believe another embarrassment wasn’t a possibility.
I was all about going to the playoffs but as the game unfolded last night I wanted no part of the playoffs. Sure I still would've been happy to get in but this teams ability to go cold for 2.5 quarters is just too much.

Not to mention our propensity to literally just hand teams points.

Just no thank you... go beat USC and set the table for what I feel will be a much more consistent team next year

They also scheduled Florida State - at the time they played FSU was ranked 3 in pre-season polls.

Everyone schedules crap games including the Buckeyes. Not everyone has the wisdom to schedule them the week before the season determining game. If any team has a real bitch to pitch, it has to be Stanford who had to play Cal, Notre Dame and USC in less than 3 weeks time while USC took a week off prior to the CCG.
Go ahead and give them a pass for a weak schedule, what did they do to earn a spot?Bottom line is their schedule was crap, played less games, no big wins, no conf championship. Watch the ratings fail (compared to previous years). it will be fun to watch the money slowly terminate the committee for what they’ve done to them (lost $).

I keep seeing remarks like this. Show me data that Alabama isn't a kick-ass ratings draw (and yes I know other fanbases watched the Iron bowl out of interest in the CFP implications).

Michigan-Ohio State was the highest rated regular-season college football game in Fox history
But it wasn't the highest rated game of the day.

...Despite Fox’s strong ratings for Ohio State-Michigan, that contest was actually not the most watched college football game of the day. That distinction belongs to No. 6 Auburn’s upset of No. 1 Alabama, which scored a 7.8 overnight rating on CBS, the best of any college football game this season and of any CBS regular-season matchup since the 2013 Iron Bowl...

Go back to 2015 when OSU wasn't in the playoffs and that just so happened to be the worse rated playoffs of the three years. There's absolutely no denying OSU brings eye balls more so then basically every other college program which yes includes Alabama and Texas. That doesn't mean we should've got into the playoffs (because we shouldn't have) but we certainly would've made the committee look good from a revenue standpoint.

What you aren't telling here though regarding ratings is that OSU held like 4 of the top 6 rated games this year with OU, PED, SCUM and Wisconsin.

No doubt Ohio State is a ratings juggernaut. Alabama is also extremely popular. Yes, Ohio State played in four of the top nine highest-rated games because they played three highly rated teams and their rival. Alabama, who had a shit schedule, played in two of the top four highest rated games- FSU (who was assumed to be a CFP contender) and their rival with the SEC CG on the line.

I still question the notion that the ratings will tank because Alabama appears rather than the Buckeyes.
