Alabama just ruined my high and our playoff chances

Bama has a following and people watch, not the point. Go to the ironbowl national championship and realize were looking at this relatively speaking. The point is all teams are in southeast/south with the top conference for year on sideline. Lower westcoast, lower midwest and lower northeast doesn't bode well.

I get the point that the BIG and Pac12 footprints are not represented. One of the two was going to be left out anyway. I also agree that tOSU would have been better for the ratings. I am referring the notion that the ratings will tank. Alabama and some other blue blood teams also attract viewers who watch hoping to see them lose. Do you watch Michigan or Notre Dame or Alabama to watch them win?

I still question the notion that the ratings will tank because Alabama appears rather than the Buckeyes.

Like I said, it happened in 2015 and it'll happen again this year the ratings will go down. Another large reason it will go down is because there's two SEC schools and another school from the SEC territory. There's literally no representation of large portions of college football.

Alabama is the better football team and hell maybe a better program at the moment. However, there's no comparison which program has the bigger fan base and Alumni base.

Valid points... It'll be interesting to see how it plays out and if the consequence affects future selections.

Ratings will likely improve from previous years, solely based on the decision to not ruin New Years Eve. That was an awful decision by an executive committee that doesn’t seem to know it’s ass from an elbow.

Let’s clarify one other thing....OSU wasn’t getting into CFP head to head against Bama when Disney/ABC are so in bed with the SEC. The Big 10 has made Fox Sports it’s bedfellow. That’s cool and all, but ESPN owns the CFP for $5.5B and when given an option of Bama or OSU, they will protect their own investment. ESPN owns the SEC Network and has really staked a lot of their future success to the SEC.

Also of note, Disney/ABC just bought out a large portion of Fox. Included in that purchase? All of Fox’s regional channels. Not included. Big 10 Network or National Fox Sports. Meaning ESPN/ABC still doesn’t benefit from our largest national games going forward....we’re competition.

Collusion is a popular word these days. I’d contend their was plenty of collusion between ESPN and the committee. $5.5 billion dollars tends to carry some weight.....it’d prob be shortsighted to not admit their was some collusion in 2014 when ESPN clearly wanted tOSU over TCU/Baylor. It’s the politics of sports. It has really turned me off this year....not likely to watch.

I'm sure you're right. But I don't want to see a system where those who decide which teams make it into the playoffs are interested in ratings.

Also... Ohio State is out of the playoffs. I'm no more willing to watch the playoffs if there's another Big Ten team in than no Big Ten teams in. I might watch Michigan or Penn State or Notre Dame in hopes they lose. But the fact that there's no teams in my region isn't going to change my interest level.
