Alabama Crimson Tide (official thread of Football, Fake Championships and Banjo)

Doesn't surprise me one bit.

QB Stetson Bennett has the highest quarterback rating in the SEC at 184.56. Plus, he leads the SEC at 10.91 yards a pass. Bennett also leads the league in the fewest times sacked.

I'd be curious to compare pass attempts/drop backs between Bennett and Bryce. Along with average depth of target, pass pro rankings, etc etc.

Baker Mayfield was leading the NFL in yards per completion the first few weeks. Which was generally ballooned by having a strong running game, pass pro and play action.

He also has 200 less attempts* than the rest of the pack. On several stat sites that doesn't even qualify to be ranked on their passing page.

- Hard to be sacked when you don't attempt passes.
- Going exclusively for the homeruns also tends to bump up the ypa (he's still behind Stroud's ypa as a comparison).
- His best game was running it up against UAB.
- Had good showings against Auburn, Kentucky, Missouri
- Bad day against Florida.
10/19 for 161yds 1 TD - 2 int
- Most attempts in a game against Tennessee (11/13), and it was a very middling performance. A statline I'd expect from a Minnesota vs. Nebraska game.
17/29 for 213yds 1 TD - 0 int
- Cracks 250yds in just 3 games: UAB, Kentucky, Missouri.

*Bennett has 163 attempts, the leaders have ~350.
For comparison, Stroud also missed a game and has 346. Bryce Young has 368.
The Pirate's kid has 572 attempts, just an idea for the upper mark and to throw a Leach reference in.

Yeah, but you can only play the schedule you have. And UGA also CLEMSON!
And btw, you listed good showings against 3 SEC teams, so those wins count for 2 . And passing for 250yds against SEC teams counts double. So technically he threw for 500+ in 2gms. So of course he should be the Heisman front runner. Not to mention the way he guided UGA to win this week against mighty Charleston Southern

I’ve never agreed with this Lilliputian sumbitch more. A lot of Ohio State “fans” could stand to benefit from this perspective.

Well, allow me to retort.

Actually, quite a few of them are being paid to play there and the reason you get paid $10MM a year Nick, is because so many people have so much interest in the results of what those players do. Spare us the self righteousness and take the little bit of bad that comes with all the good like a man. You want to mold the character of young men? Show them how to act like a man. Not a millennial.

Thank goodness that Ohio State fans would never turn on a legendary winning football coach. I mean, ask early 1960s Woody Hayes.
Saban won a national title *checks notes* last season. There was a decade+ gap between national title and firing for Woody, plus the whole punch a kid in the face thing. I don’t think that’s a very good comparison.
