Back in Indiana, and I did get a sideways glance and the TSA officer in Columbus did look over my microphone for a second when I flew out, but otherwise no real issues. Orlando officers didn't even blink at it, though I did get randomed for that hand swab thing (what the hell is that about anyway?).

As for the article, it isn't clear, but they don't allow any kind of food/drink through the checkpoints, so if it happened there, whatever. Bad choice of rule for an explanation, though (should have just said food/drink aren't allowed through). If it were her checked baggage, though, that's just nuts.

If I didn't have to take off/out so much stuff, I would have 1 bin and the bag(s) I'm carrying on. As they have it now, I generally require 3 bins (to make sure nothing is over something else, heaven forbid!) plus my bag(s). If they made me empty my camera bag and laptop backpack, they'd never let me fly because they would be too annoyed.

It is bad enough that airport restaurant food is so expensive, but JFC does it have to suck too?

I'm not talking about going to the food court but an actual restaurant at the airport.

Also, there is only one gas station anywhere near the Denver Airport to get gas for your rental car and it is almost $0.40 a gallon higher than around Denver.

Not so much of an airport annoyance, but a flew airplane quandaries I have when I fly...

What if the mechanism on the wing that provides lift and drag, malfunctions during the initial rise and the plane keeps ascending until the plane is too high in the air and the engines stall?

What if the screws on the wing come undone?

What if the engine explodes? What if the screws on the engine come undone and it falls off?

What if landing gear malfunctions and the sensors don't pick up on it?

What if the pilot decides he doesn't want to live anymore?

What if a cracked out pilot of another plane flies into the plane I'm in?

What if the latch on the door breaks at 35,000 feet?

I would rather drive.

Kind of interesting since you're more likely to be in an automobile accident than in an airplane accident.

Stats don't soothe my over-active imagination. Only learning to fly will. I wont do that either, so I will continue to drink away my imagination before I fly.
