I love Paul Keels, as an announcer only. We are truly spoiled. Go listen to Westwood one, espn's play by play guys. They are a solid 4-5 seconds behind the action let alone the local college guys for MSU, Michigan, etc. his true genius is basketball season. I have never heard an announcer who can legitimately keep up with basketball action tell you everything that's actually happening. Some people complain that he is too dull. If you want thrilling entertainment go to the game or watch on television especially now that Gus Johnson call so many of our games.

As for the sorry excuse for "analysts" on 97.1, I still remember in mid 2008 when I made the mistake of turning it on after the game. Caller called in and talked about Bryant Browning and neither of them had any idea who he was. The guy had been starting for year and a half and was the center of plenty of attention when he was playing out of position in 2007 at tackle

I don't hate Common Idiot and the ReTorg, I just wish they'd drop their pretenses. I think it's insulting.

I don't listen to Bishop and Rothman and I don't even know when they are on.

Paul Keels is the man. Anyone hating on Krenzel should be banned in my IMO.

No you don't. I haven't listened to AM850 WKNR in a little over a year now and you don't have to either. Simply tune in to 92.3 The Fan. Infinitely better sports talk, infinitely better informed sports talk than what you get on KNR.

So do what many of us in NE Ohio have done over the past year and turn the dial to 92.3. That way you won't have to deal with the King of Douchcanoes, Aaron Goldhammer, and as a extra bonus, you will no longer be listening to an ESPN affiliate.

I don't listen to the show anymore, but when I did, I remember being frustrated by the coverage given to the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears. Otherwise, I agree, most of what they say is also said by a significant percentage of BP posters.

Why is everyone's knickers in a knot over this minor cast of talking heads? The guy said something really stupid in a world where people blow other people away to get their 15 seconds of fame.

It's hard to disagree with the sentiment that TV is better without Howard, but there are lots of ways to say that without putting notions into weak minds.

I like Bishop and Rothman....I know for the drive home they need poopy jokes to get the numbers they want but if you could do Bishop, Rothman and get a clown to sit on whoopie cushions I think they would have somthing for that slot.

Torg and Common suck because they fake their loyalty to Ohio State and its palpable....its ok to not be a fan but acting like it when your not sucks balls

As I take a quick glance at the members list sorted by reputation, BB73 isn't saying it, Bucky Katt isn't saying it, osugrad21 isn't saying it, jwinslow isn't saying it, BUCKYLE isn't saying it, Deety isn't saying it, BKB isn't saying it, NFBuck isn't saying it, jlb1705 isn't saying it, MililaniBuckeye isn't saying it, Jaxbuck isn't saying it, BusNative isn't saying it, Muck isn't saying it, LordJeffBuck isn't saying it, DBB isn't saying it, AKAK isn't saying it, wadc45 isn't saying it, and so on.

Obnoxious, ignorant negative nancies on a message board saying stupid things doesn't make it any less annoying when obnoxious, ignorant negative nancies say those same things on the radio.

I haven't listened to 97.1 in years and I haven't posted on BP in almost a week for basically the same reasons. I'm just glad that everyone (mostly the people listed above) doesn't stop posting or this place would be just as unbearable as the Common Man and the Torg.

Thanks 86, and let me be clear, this might be the best thing "Torg" has ever said. He's my hero for the next 15 minutes.

I know many are also hating on Bishop and Rothman, but I'd prefer to listen to their show than Common Man & the Torg.

As for Paul Keels, yeah, I think he's a great game announcer. When I didn't have cable at home, I would sometimes have to resort to listening on the radio, and he made it bearable.

That quote right there is a direct shot at Herbie. A couple years ago Pryor and Herbie got into a b*tch fight b/c Pryor called Herbie a "fake Buckeye." Ricordati and Herbie were paired on a 1460 show several years ago that didn't work out mainly b/c Herbie had no appreciation for Ricordati's humor and there is no love lost between the 2 of them. Even though he barely gives 1460 the time of day anymore Herbie still throws his weight around there. Remember when Damon Bruce rightly took Tom Friend to task a couple years ago on air and then shortly thereafter received his walking papers. Guess who insisted on that? Now Bruce is out in SF doing good radio, even filling in for Rome when he's on vacation, and we're stuck w/ 2nd rate retreads here in Columbus. I still like Herbie and think he does a decent job but his days of having any pull or influence in Columbus should be over.

It's sports entertainment radio, emphasis on entertainment. It's for ratings. You aren't supposed to like them. That's the point!

I'd rather listen to a couple of dudes humming Carmen Ohio for a few hours than the two unfunny dickbreathed douches on the air now. If, as you say, the emphasis is on entertainment, they should hire someone entertaining.

Oh, I hope Desmond Howard gets AIDS. Not the Magic Johnson AIDS, but real AIDS. Then I would like him to go back in time and get the plague.

Why wouldn't you hire Buckeye fans for a radio show in Columbus. They'd still say ignorant shit, but at least they'd speak from the heart instead of a script.

I find any shot at Herbie hilarious, but isn't the dude calling him fake, also fake?
