Now, those two idiots are morons who dont know shit and are fake as hell. Are they there for entertainment? sure thats great, then go to a morning show where you can tell stupid jokes and play fart sounds. I am listening to sports radio, I want someone who actually knows sports. Preferably someone who knows more about it than I do. I dont want to hear stories "broken" a week after I already knew about them from a free buckeye website. give me analysis and real discussion.

Obnoxious, ignorant negative nancies on a message board saying stupid things doesn't make it any less annoying when obnoxious, ignorant negative nancies say those same things on the radio.

Posters that were mentioned in the above post, do you disagree with the stuff that Coqui posts below? Because that is what they say on the show.

The radio guys aren't experts obviously, but they're really about as negative as probably more than half of the posters in the average game thread that doesn't end up 45-0 with the other team turning it over four times and having negative yardage. If what's posted below is "shit talking" then I'm as big of an offender as anyone.

There are reasons to not like these guys. But I don't know what the fuck being an actual Buckeye fan has to do with anything. Some of the ex-players have been awful on the radio. These guys say the same stuff most of the fanbase thinks, they just do it a lot louder and more abrasive than most.

Here's what they're saying on the show.

The Defensive showing is inexcusable and needs to be fixed
Devin Smith needs to catch those sure TD passes
Fickell's job isn't in danger yet, but when your boss comes in to watch you closer, you better fix things.
The missed tackles on runs up the middle are inexcusable.
The pizza guy shouldn't have lost his job, but it was s stupid thing to say.

(Friday) Cleveland Browns suck, but they should be able to beat the Bengals
(Monday) Bengal fans are on suicide watch because they lost to the Browns
You can't bet on NFL games, because nothing is a sure bet anymore

The NHL lockout is stupid because it's going to kill fan dedication to an extent.

I am listening to sports radio, I want someone who actually knows sports. Preferably someone who knows more about it than I do.

Casual fans don't want to be taught, they want to agree. That's why radio programs are negative and mindless.

I'd rather listen to a couple of dudes humming Carmen Ohio for a few hours than the two unfunny dickbreathed douches on the air now. If, as you say, the emphasis is on entertainment, they should hire someone entertaining.

Oh, I hope Desmond Howard gets AIDS. Not the Magic Johnson AIDS, but real AIDS. Then I would like him to go back in time and get the plague.

Why wouldn't you hire Buckeye fans for a radio show in Columbus. They'd still say ignorant shit, but at least they'd speak from the heart instead of a script.

Since when has talk radio involved any intelligent discussion? Where the fuck have I been? There's a world with intelligent talk radio out there? Holy shit! I respect your vision for smart talk radio and wish you the best in your quest to find it, sir.

EDIT: In all seriousness, it would be nice to get some legitimate people in there who really know sports. I'm with you on that. I just don't expect it. Radio is kind of what I expect it to be at the moment.. just there for time-killing and for keeping things fresh. The banter is what it is.

I didn't even fucking say that. Read what you just quoted and tell me where I said most of the fanbase listens to them. I said they share the opinions of most of the fanbase - our defense blows, Smith needs to stop dropping balls, etc. Ground-breaking stuff there. I'd wonder which games these fans were watching if they didn't think that stuff.

I didn't exclude myself from anything, either. I said I listened to them. That doesn't really sound like an exclusion. I don't consider myself a casual fan, however. People posting about the Buckeyes in their free time on the internet to strangers are not casual. The fact that we're arguing about idiots on the radio says we're both on the same boat there. Maybe its nitpicky but everytime I listen to a football game with Keels, he can never get the names right. He seems to be perpetually confused by two players wearing the same numbers. It is his job to know the roster, right?

I love Paul Keels, as an announcer only. We are truly spoiled. Go listen to Westwood one, espn's play by play guys. They are a solid 4-5 seconds behind the action let alone the local college guys for MSU, Michigan, etc. his true genius is basketball season. I have never heard an announcer who can legitimately keep up with basketball action tell you everything that's actually happening. Some people complain that he is too dull. If you want thrilling entertainment go to the game or watch on television especially now that Gus Johnson call so many of our games.

As for the sorry excuse for "analysts" on 97.1, I still remember in mid 2008 when I made the mistake of turning it on after the game. Caller called in and talked about Bryant Browning and neither of them had any idea who he was. The guy had been starting for year and a half and was the center of plenty of attention when he was playing out of position in 2007 at tackle

I personally think the flagship radio station in Columbus has an oppertunity to create a good drive home show without poopy pee pee giggle fuck shit. I dont think they need to be Ohio State fans at all (Beau Bishop is not) but at least be a college football person. Those guys will take up an hour talking about a trade the Cubs made. They have high rating but in my opinion because of default. Its the only all sports radio station with local shows. They can do a better job (meaning 97.1)

The Ohio State show, still has to cover the Indians, Reds, Bengals, Browns, Blue Jackets, Crew, Clippers (to an extent), and of course the Buckeyes.
