(6) THE Ohio State vs. (11) Dayton, Thurs 3/20, 12:15p ET, CBS

Poor decision-making, compounded by poor shooting. Overrated defense. Not a winning formula.

Agreed, especially with the bold. As bad as some people want to blame the offense, the fact of the matter is that on two different occasions in the final minute, OSU had the lead and a chance to seal it with a defensive stop. Each time, Dayton scored.

Oh, and Dayton also shot 45% from the field.

defense sure - but he wasn't exactly an offensive force....better than Williams is I suppose, but still....

I wish this team had Ravenel or Othello Hunter back. At least those guys seemed to care when they were playing the game.

True, but when he (Lauderdale) was close to the basket he always went up with authority, most times with a dunk. Amir rarely does that unless it is an uncontested dunk or layup. Can't understand why a player with his size is so soft around the rim.

In a way, I'm glad this season is over. This was a team that wasn't very much fun to watch and wasn't going to make a run in the tournament regardless if we won today or not in my opinion.

On the bright side, my bracket doesn't have any blemishes on it yet.

I'd kill for Lauderdale this year. Hell I would have killed for him last year. At least he played angry and was an enforcer underneath. Williams and Trey may as well have stayed home today.

It'll be interesting to see what happens next year:

- Does Q play every day like a 1st round NBA pick, or only a few times during the season?
- Does Scott take the next step, both with his decision making and his shot?
- Does Thompson develop into a consistent shooter, rather than someone with unbelievable athleticism and a streaky shot?
- Does Amir play with some kind of fire?
- Does Loving lose the tentative approach that seems to have held him back once Big Ten play started?
- What does OSU get out of Kam?
- What does OSU get out of the incoming freshman class?

I didn't get to see the game, but everyone here in Dayton is quiet happy. Which will last briefly until they get orange'd.
I figured tOSU would lose if they didn't take the Flyers seriously. From what I have read, they played less than stellar.

The bad part is that Dayton didn't look great either. Heck, on the sequence where OSU was up 2 with under a minute to play, Dayton looked totally lost and didn't know what to do with the ball, such that they were going to force a contested three pointer. But OSU bailed them out with a bad foul on that three point shot.

Some things were typical for this year - 25% from three, 67% from the FT line, held the opponent below their average point total. Unfortunately, our centers were invisible, we had no offensive rebounding, and a couple of brutal mental errors in the final minutes sealed our fate.

I'm betting UD fans will be happy about this for awhile, even if they lose to the Cuse by 50.

At this point we are who we are. Amir will not be a suddenly changed man with mean streak, Scott, Q, and Thompson will continue to be streaky with flashes but not consistent. At this point you just hope for the last route to come true and a true freshman or loving step up and make a move.

If craft can't become a consistent scorer in 4 years Thompson, Ross, and Scott surely won't either. I'm not overly optimistic for next year unless someone can become a presence down low.
