(6) THE Ohio State vs. (11) Dayton, Thurs 3/20, 12:15p ET, CBS

Here are my final thoughts then I'll put this one to bed:

If you would have told me on Thursday morning that Craft and Thompson would combine for 34 points, UD would only hit 3 three point shots, and shoot under 50% from the field, I would have said it was an OSU blow out. That is why this game amazed me. UD just flat out beat OSU at their game. Tough hard nose man to man defense and do not turn the ball over. Ud was just a tick better from the charity stripe which was the defense.

There is absolutely no excuse for Amir Williams not to at least hold his own against Dayton's front line. That was flat out embarrassing for him. Kavanaugh has been abused all year underneath. The games that Amir has played well is when he was involved early. If I was Thad, I would have thrown it into him down low early and often. That way he has no choice but to be engaged in the game. Going small helped helped UD tremendously.

I figured Oliver and Ross would cancel eachother out and they did. With Thompson and Craft upping their production, it should have been enough for a hard fought 7-10 point win.

Marc Loving should have gotten more than 8 mins. If I recall correctly he banged down a 3 and then came out at the next dead ball. He was in foul trouble but who cares. He is a bench role player. What was Thad saving him for?

It was a close one that could have went either way. Hopefully Thad can find a decent big man. UD should be in good shape next year losing only Sanford and Kavanugh.

I believe Thad pulled him out of the game after getting multiple fouls called on him....one of which looked like he fouled a UD player with his face....on the guys forearm. I swear I could see Matta yell at the officials "what do you want him to do???"

No, it's not. Titles in NCAA hoops are a fuckin' crap shoot. Also, the SEC doesn't have three titles. UF has two, one of which is because several 1st rounders came back in an era in which that's unheard of, and Kentucky has one with a coach who's left NCAA investigations at every job he's been at. Regardless, we're not going to hire Billy or Cal anytime soon, so again, if not Thad, who?

TWO PLUS ONE IS THREE. and you people like to call ME stupid?
how many national championships do B1G schools have in the last decade? use whatever kind of math you like.

i never said that Thad needs to be fired. but he does have shortcomings. everyone does.
i'm thoroughly aware of the no bashing rules. that doesn't mean that we all have to be freaking idiots and not see what we see.
the coaches don't walk on water.

It's a 2 team conference and that's only when UK feels like trying, coaching and how long they can dance on the precipice of sanctions.

When the B1G is reduced to a 2 team conference (UM-MSU), we lament just how weak the conference is.

When ANYONE in the SEC is good, it's cause for celebration.
 Of all the coaches to use as a beacon of true coaching, you went with Calipari, the guy who has been badly underachieving at utilizing his talent lately. Kudos him on to winning - and coaching - better than anyone expected today.

there are three SEC teams in the sweet 16. just like the B1G. hmmm...

:lol::lol::lol:

Stick to insanely stupid government conspiracy theories. That UK team is so disorganized, they make osu look cohesive.

that Kentucky team that you two are bashing has won two more tournament game than the Buckeyes...

i will be the first in line to call Calipari slime. being slime does not automatically make him suck at coaching.
how many other coaches have taken three schools to the Final Four? and NO. i do NOT want him coaching the Buckeyes.

he was standing on the sidelines yesterday telling those kids what to do.
they were looking to him to see what to do.
they did what he told them.
they won.
it was broadcast on national television.

The talent they have signed is outrageous and according to they are wonderfully coached and execute his wishes well, so why are they an 8 seed again? Or might there have been a very different attitude and chemistry among the wildcat players for much of this season?

When Matta lost, many people talked about how a great coach like K would not lose a game like that. Then they did.

I don't think Calipari is a bad coach. I think he is shady, unlikable and easy to criticize, but he has won. That said, this notion that Calipari has tremendous control over his UK players is a humorous concept. Especially because he is being brought up as a contrast to Thad's first weak year since the previous decade. Compliment Cal on a strong tourney win but he is one of the worst when it comes to underachieving and under developing high potential teams at his current job.

Cal is a collector of superstars and with that comes many challenges. As a result he has had very disjointed locker rooms and struggled with major chemistry issues most years.

which is a banner year for them. Meanwhile a strong big ten would be very disappointed by that type of finish. This was the opposite of a strong big ten and as such the only ones to survive were the mostly good squads.
