5 players suspended for 5 games in 2011 regular season (Appeal has been denied)

Tossing this around for a little bit, my hopes would be as follows.

1) None of them play in the Sugar Bowl. Suspend them for team violations or just let them ride the pine. I'm ok with either scenario. If it means a beatdown by the SEC, so be it. We've survived those before.

2) After the Sugar Bowl, encourage them to look at their NFL prospects. If they choose to come back, make it clear that the suspension will not be appealed, and there is NO guarantee of their regaining their starting jobs when it is over.

3) Find out what the hell happened with those 6 compliance officers we have on staff, and make sure that it is not repeated.

I may be alone on this, but IMO "taking responsibility" doesn't necessarily mean addressing the issue with members of the media. One can take responsibility privately, with one's teammates, in such a way that none of us here will necessarily hear about it.

You're not alone on this at all, it would be nice to see one of these guys really become and say to his team "Hey I screwed up, but we're a TEAM and no matter what we all need to go up as a TEAM and go down as a TEAM. Let's go beat Arky"

I can't fully explain just how disappointed I am in these kids. I have no doubt that they knew better. And disappointed more in the selling of their rings and gold pants, that they would even think of ridding themselves of objects revered and honored by true Buckeyes everywhere.
This is their fault, each and every one of them and no one elses, not the artist and definitely not Herbie's.
Herbie may have issues with TP and at this juncture I am starting to believe him.
Now word has it that some of the kids did this to help out their families and that doesn't change the fact that it was wrong but that they knew beforehand that it was against the rules.
It's just a crying shame.....

Sucks. Sucks a lot. This will diminish a win in the Sugar Bowl, as you will hear all about how tOSU lets guys play in a BCS bowl even if they did illegal stuff, and how Tress got their suspension put off until mostly easier early season games.
Tressel has to go to bat for his players and try to get them the minimum possible sentence. You know, like a lawyer would do for his clients.

I know what you are saying, but I'm sure that Tressel would rather take a load of crap from the media for "allowing" his eligible players to play than to have his entire team think that he's selling out five kids who were "guilty" of small-scale stupidity.

Just thinking, with Braxton Miller enrolled, even if Pryor returns for his senior season, how many reps in Spring Ball for him (if eligible for Spring Ball).

Taylor Graham, Kenny Guiton and Braxton Miller may have to see more reps, considering Pryor isn't playing in those opening games (if returning).

I think there's a healthy medium there.

Tressel can make an example out of these 5 without throwing them under the bus. IMO, it would be the right thing to do.
