5 players suspended for 5 games in 2011 regular season (Appeal has been denied)

I listened to the Herbie interview. Clearly, he has issues with Pryor. But, stinging as it is to hear what he says, he is right about several things.

Addition by subtraction? It's too early to tell how this works out, but living your values always leads to strength in the end and the alternative leads to perdition.

Casting aspersions about a fellow Buckeye by wondering aloud "if (Pryor) was the ringleader"? Sorry, Herbie, but you are way over the line on that one.

There have been a few times in recent years, like the ESP!N debacle, when I was disappointed in some of the things that Herbie has said about Ohio State football coaches and players.

Yeah, we're all disappointed in these players. But, Herbie, hearing you bashing the young man, no matter what, was no less disappointing. You really need to pull yourself toward yourself and get your priorities straight.

Sorry to hear how this all came down. I know it has to be disappointing to y'all, and just depressing and.....mystifying.....to Coach Tressel that your supposed team leader would be in the thick of it.

Sucks. Sucks a lot. This will diminish a win in the Sugar Bowl, as you will hear all about how tOSU lets guys play in a BCS bowl even if they did illegal stuff, and how Tress got their suspension put off until mostly easier early season games.

Of course, those statements would be false, but the mere act of allowing those guys to play in a BCS Bowl while suspensions are put off until next year is, as of now, a fact y'all will have to deal with as a fanbase.

What is even worse is this: the NCAA's stated reason that your players got to play in the bowl - that your compliance education was found so deficient that your guys did not know how to act - makes Tress look bad no matter what the truth is (the truth is that the NCAA wants a good BCS Bowl season with a large market percentage and $$$$ for everybody)

And, last but not least, that is some not insignificant fodder to be used against you in recruiting. Probably will not have much effect, but you do not want to give the bad guys free ammo for their guns.

Hang in there guys and gals.

And to the Admin or Mod who removed my tag, it was funny late last night when nobody knew what the morning would bring, and I thank you for removing it before my rep turned all ruby-ish.:wink2:

:oh:

Which one of the five will be the first to come out and take responsibility?

My guess is that they're under orders to keep their mouths shut and not talk to anyone. Pryor's tweets haven't exactly been worthy of Faulkner in the past, and I'm sure JT and GS don't want ANY of his thoughts floating around today.

Just get ready for "GameDay", because it will probably get worse.

Then he'll go to the WHAC and cry.

Well, they don't call them "smartphones" for nothing.

I always wondered how it was within the rules for the OSU athletic department to give gold jewelry to the players. Is there a rule that says, "you can give you players items up to a value of in a given season for rewards"?

I'm sure the Big 10 Championship rings are authorized. My guess is the gold pants probably just plated, and therefore, are not that valuable in terms of gold content.

I may be alone on this, but IMO "taking responsibility" doesn't necessarily mean addressing the issue with members of the media. One can take responsibility privately, with one's teammates, in such a way that none of us here will necessarily hear about it.
