2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

Oh I know we aren't always going to win the playoff. But it's just a reality everyone is going to have to get used to that a loss or two and not winning the B1G title isn't the automatic failure on the national scale that it once was under the old systems. The game still matters and it sucks losing it it really does, but losing it means a lot less than it did before.

Yeah. I would say one thing we as fans can do to actually improve on the NFL model is to take regular season stuff a little more serious. I know that supports some of what the DFBIA is saying but it's something to consider anyway.

You look at these NFL fans who's team just won 14 games and such, their season is a complete wash. Total failure, the regular season means nothing.

There needs to be a middle ground if it can be found.

I mean you have to do well enough in the regular season to get into the playoffs. I wouldn't say it means "nothing" but it definitely doesn't mean as much as it once does.

I'd still rather have a 12 team playoff where it's actually decided on the field more. You can debate on the number of teams (I think 8 woulda been good) but a playoff is always better than human voters and metric computer ranking systems deciding who is #1 and #2 to play for the title. Or even worse what we had before where the AP and Coaches would just decide who the champ was.

I cannot understand the chestiness from a team that "won" a natty while literally under active NCAA investigation for on-field cheating.
Stock up on your maize and blue Walmart "championship" gear while you can. The hammer of truth falls soon.
In 6 months, and every month after, our championship will stand. Yours won't.

Now go slide Balas another fiver for you binky and bedtime story.

This which covers why things appear to be taking a bit longer to play out. As I said a couple of pages back, when the CMU stuff started coming to light, they had to kind of stop mid-course and adjust to allow the input of new/fresh evidence/information. At least that's what I'm assuming is being referred to here...
The first public records we have been expecting were strictly the NOA as received by UM. While they haven't come right out and said it, I believe that the updated NOA issued in early November is being treated as a superseding document that reset the clock on legal review, redactions, etc. These documents will absolutely be released as public records at some point, but UM is going to squeeze every second that they can to delay.

This isn't how you act when you have nothing to hide.
And that last bit is the meat. If this was a minor dust up, if it was something they felt they were going to easily skate around, information would have leaked from that NOA to appease the masses. But it's being protected like the goddamned Magna Carta. They do NOT want that info getting out and are doing everything they can to stall/slow/delay anything about this case getting out because the second it does they lose control of the narrative.

Riiiight. We only beat 6 of the top 8 teams.

It's hilarious that anyone is trying to claim that a team winning 4 straight games vs top 10 teams in a playoff to win the title is somehow "not legitimate". It's not shocking coming from the DFBIA though.

Literally responded to someone on facebook today who stated "Our championship didn't come with any blemish like 2 losses" with "an NCAA investigation into cheating isn't a blemish?"

They really expect us to be waiting forever for this hammer they don't see hanging over their heads.

A vast majority of scUMs titles are mickey mouse crap. Those titles they racked up in the early 1900s especially.

Their only full modern day title will always hold doubts even if the NCAA cowers. It's a shame.

Yeah...but it's not two losses!

That is my favorite thing with seeing DFBIA post on the socials about our CFP Championship. They act like their 2023 season wasn't marred with a Jim Harbaugh suspension, an active coach being on the sidelines of another FBS team (who was playing one of their opponents), cheating allegations, coaches fired mid-season, and then another Jim Harbaugh suspension.

But yes, a team with two losses who got into a playoff system that was expanded, by design, to give more teams a shot and then proceeded to bulldoze their way through their opponents (one of which was the #1 and previously undefeated team) isn't a real champion. Right.

But, seriously. Did people not expect there to be teams involved in the playoffs with multiple losses? Or that there will inevitably be rematches from the regular season? Did they not understand that the now Power 4 Conferences each having at least 16 teams and making up half of the FBS landscape means exactly that will happen?

Two. Not one suspension. Two. He was suspended twice. In one season.

You are correct. As was I.
