2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

Aww Lil Davey came out with a statement. The level of butthurt is flowing through the entire fanbase :slappy:

Yea we lost to them but us winning the title totally pisses on their parade. Their title was more littered with scandal and Harbaugh taking off than any celebration and it all was quickly taken away by Ohio State running through the first 12 team playoff and winning it. Their 15 minutes of fame ended up being mediocre at best.

GoBlow is hilarious this morning. Scrolled through their National Title Game thread for about 2 minutes and saw the following claims.

Ohio State got a "easy draw" to the final
Ohio State is "lucky the playoff format chaged"
scUM is the last "true national champion" the title is a sham now

I'll give them 1 point out of 3.
1. "Easy draw" - no. BB73 posted the latest AP standings. Ohio State beat 6 of the top 10. 4 of those teams were in the last 4 weeks. (Tennessee was Top 10, I believe. Maybe it was just 3 top 10 teams in the last 3 weeks. Regardless, that's not an "easy draw".) Plus, #8 is the lowest of the 5-8 seeds, meaning they had the highest Round 1 opponent available - the 9 seed. So Ohio State had the toughest Round 1 opponent available for that seed group. Next, they get the #1 seed. The #1 seed was "easy"? Ha. Then, they got the team that was #1 for a good part of the season, and top-5 most of the year. Finally, they got the team that beat the SEC champions, and had something like 30 straight wins, or something. So, no - you get 0 points for your "easy draw" claim.
2. Ohio State is "lucky the playoff format changed". I don't know if "lucky" is the right word. I mean, we all knew the game before the season started. It's not like it changed at the last second based on the results of a random number generator. But in any previous format used, Ohio State doesn't have a shot at the national championship. I am reluctantly giving them 1 point for this one. But we all knew the format before the season started.
3. The cheaters are the last "true national champion". I get their point, that they needed to run the table to become champions. But I wonder how often they claim the NFL championship is a sham because the champion lost X games. I mean, did a 6-seed ever win the Super Bowl? Is that winner a sham? Not buying it. Also, let's see how long until their title becomes a sham.

"True" champions don't need to implement a multi-year, systemic cheating system to win a title. So they can shove that shit where the sun doesn't shine.

They are struggling to cope right now, imagine if they actually took away their title from last year. What a glorious fall from grace that would be.

The FBS is basically NFL lite now with the 12 team format, it's just what it is. The mouse and certain fans still want CCGs to really matter but in the grand scheme they really don't. It's akin to winning your division in the NFL, it might get your a BYE and maybe a easier road to the title game but it's relatively meaningless if you don't end up winning the title. Undefeated seasons are going to be the exception rather than the rule going forward. We will see more 2 loss champs than 0 loss ones.

This is what people wanted for YEARS. Now after one year, they're suddenly realizing the downsides and complaining? Fuck outta here. You wanted it, you got it.

let's slow our roll there a little.

We aren't always going to win every game in the playoffs. Winning The Game will always matter. It may not be an automatic season ender going forward but it should always matter.

I do agree though, that they have fucked the greatest regular season sport in the world up by adding a playoff. I've been saying that since the BCS days.

DFBIA is gonna DFBIA

The SEC turds are only whining because things didn't go how they thought they would and the SEC didn't have a horse in the race at the end. If 2 SEC teams marched into the title game they'd be proclaiming this system the greatest system ever formed.

Oh I know we aren't always going to win the playoff. But it's just a reality everyone is going to have to get used to that a loss or two and not winning the B1G title isn't the automatic failure on the national scale that it once was under the old systems. The game still matters and it sucks losing it it really does, but losing it means a lot less than it did before in the terms of the national scale.
