2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

Honestly, I get it, they want relevance when they had the worst fall off after their own NC run. It doesn't help that they won an inexcusable game IN Cbus, when they were 3TD underdogs. Their fans posting the scores, and still calling the program soft are humorous to me because they don't change a thing, and are only trying to get under our skin. Its no fault of OSU's that that loss honestly meant little in the grand scheme. Honestly that loss put OSU in the hardest part of the CFP bracket, and they won them all. So I'll continue to laugh at the posts I see from scUM fans, and smile when the say the OSU NC isn't valid. Because it sure looks valid from my vantage point

Without the loss to Michigan, I'm not sure OSU goes into the playoffs with the fire they needed to win the National Championship. They seemed like a different team in the playoffs than they were during the regular season.

Idk if I fully believe that, and we'll never truly know. But I can also see a team so confident and elated from finally beating scUM after 3 years, that they also run wild on the CFP. Winning The Game also means that OSU would be in the B1GCG as well. Lets say they get revenge on Oregon and win, now OSU is the #1 seed in the playoffs. Oregon v Tennessee in Eugene would be a very interesting game. It would set up a possible 3rd time OSU v Oregon, unless Oregon is moved to another part of the bracket. Imo, the confidence from beating scUM also leads OSU to the NC. They wouldn't have the same "us vs the world" mentality, but they'd have the confidence of some of the classic Saban teams, who were happy going into every game as the clear favorite and juggernaut.

The amount of people crying about the expanded playoff that they wanted because it happened to not go how they thought it was going to go is some funny shit.
All the casuals thought the expanded playoff would give more teams a chance, when in reality it just gives a lifeline to a blue blood(s) that trips up a couple times during the regular season. Everyone else just gets participation trophies. OSU this year is the closest thing we'll ever get to a Cinderella in this sport.

Like you said, we'll never know. But I really don't like the idea of having to play Oregon (or anyone, really) three times in one year, and conference champions didn't fare that well this year. I think missing the B1G Championship game probably helped us out. Plus, I really enjoyed watching OSU thump Tennessee in a frigid Ohio Stadium.

Yep. The TCU & Cincinnati's of the worlds best chance was in the 4 team playoff.

A team like has enough in the tank to come out and win 1 game against a team with much better talent than them, but they aren't ripping off 3 or 4 in a row to win the title in the 12 team format. I'd give it a <1% chance of such a team ever making it into the final.

We could see a 12 seed win it some day, but it's going to be some Ohio State/Bama type team who is loaded with talent but happens to limp through the regular season and lose 2 or 3 regular season games and then just catches fire in the playoffs. It's not going to be some SMU/Boise State type team.

I think the TCU/Cincy teams can make it in similar fashion to Boise St or SMU, but they're going to have the same fate as those schools. The more the playoffs are expanded, the more it benefits the bigger programs. Like you said, the only 12 seed that wins it, is a 12 seed that's blue blood and has stocked talent. You're not going to see a March madness type run in a game as physical as football, eventually the Cinderella runs into a bigger, stronger, faster team, and you can't shoot 3s to win and get the upset. There's only so much slowing down the game a team can do before the talent gap really comes out.

One thing seemed to be evident, Ohio State was physically ready for the playoffs. Reducing the pace of the offense led to two fresh running backs. Resting JT and Sawyer produced two strong DEs and the backups look to be ready for next season. What amazed me most was the play of the o-line at the end of the season. After the loss of two key players, they really came together. Howard was seldom pressured and the results were spectacular.

Basketball and Football are definitely 2 different monsters.

If Boise woulda beat Ped State they woulda likely gotten beat pretty easily by UGA.

Arizona State gave their best shot vs Texas, if they won that game though good odds Ohio State woulda beat them by 4 scores.

It's going to be very hard for those types of teams to win multiple games in a row against stacked talent teams.

Yup, OSU faced literally the only teams in the CFP who could beat them, and none could. I shudder to think of what this offense does to a team like boise st, Clemson or SMU
