I dunno, Jay Hill is known for his defense being Jim Knowles level complicated to learn. Bringing in new guys every year might not work out as intended.

They literally hired the BYU DC. LOL!. Their setting themselves up for having to pay for their roster.
That dude isn't going to be able to simply walk into a school in Columbus/Cleveland, or a high school in GA or FL and just create a relationship that never existed.
Well, both teams cheat and so that would make sense. The only reason he stays is to collect the rest, which in all fairness is life changing money. Ok, looking at what he did this year, just take the money kid and hope for the best. You can get one more year in transfer to Central Michigan.
I hadn't really thought about this, but you make a good point about a change in the game. If your plan is to bring in a bunch of mercenaries for a year or maybe two, you better be bringing top talent or a DC who can manipulate his D to fit his personnel (very few can do this).I dunno, Jay Hill is known for his defense being Jim Knowles level complicated to learn. It just depends. Tressel made the step up from YSU to Ohio State and brought some assistants with him. Urban made the step up from Utah to Florida. Cignetti from JMU to Indiana and brought some assistants with him. It can be done. But, I hope that you are right.Jay Hills whole career is either at Utah Weber State or BYU. It's a big step up in competition and a big change when it comes to the type of program and what you have to deal with at said type of program. I'm sure DFBIA sees this as a slam dunk but he wasn't upgrading jobs until Whittingham got hired late at scUM. He's been good at BYU but moving to scUM is a completely different monster, especially when they've been used to NFL caliber DCs, now they are saddled back with a pure college guy.

OTOH, BYU is a notorious cheap-shotting team throughout the years, so he'll fit in there. They literally hired the BYU DC. LOL!. Their setting themselves up for having to pay for their roster.

He also apparently is Whittingham's white whale. He tried to hire him twice as DC in Utah apparently.Jay Hills whole career is either at Utah Weber State or BYU.
