If you were some kind of PR crisis expert and Michigan hired you to save their ass, but you secretly planned to sabotage them, what would you have done differently over the past 30 days?
It does seem like Ono and company is making it more difficult for the NCAA to conclude there wasn’t a lack of institutional control, which is probably the opposite of what they should be doing.

I would have a public ceremony and give Connor Stallions an honorary PhD and the key to the city. The key would be in the shape of a video camera.

Ono's a clown, an oily manipulative political animal and a flat out bad person. His time at UC drove that home to me. It still boggles my mind that tcun hired him. We can joke that he's perfect for them, but in reality, they could hire almost any university President in the country to take that job, yet they chose that guy.

Almost like a higher power wanted him there for this very special time in SCUM history ....

The only thing I can figure is that Ono is one of those guys who can read an audience and say exactly what they want to hear. He probably knocked everybody's socks off during his interviews. I'd like to think university administrators are above this sort of stuff, but it wouldn't surprise me if his backing of the "Buckeye State" slogan while he was at UC gained him a few points with some of the TCUN board members as well. I just wonder where he goes this time when the grift is up. Back to Canada?

I thought the bUCkeye state thing was before Ono. I think that was about 2007 or 2008 or 2009, when Urban Meyer's Florida Gators came within 1 game of the national championship game, and then they played Cincinnati, instead, and won something like 52-10. Maybe Ono has been in Cincinnati that long?

I did some Internet searching and you are correct. The bUCkeye state shirts were out by at least 2009, and Ono was president of UC from 2012 to 2016. But, I do think he pushed the OSU is UC's rival - we should should be co-flagships concept, to the detriment of UC I might add. In any case, we shouldn't let minor details get in the way of the bigger picture here, which is that Santa Ono is a major douchebag.

I absolutely agree. I didn't mean to defend him or try to sound like I was arguing. I didn't think he was behind "bUCkeye state", but he totally supported that idea when he got there. I remember reading about the co-flagship thing and where he poked the bear to get his own support. Not being into politics of colleges and universities, I'll assume you are correct that the bear-poking was to UC's detriment.

No. Ono came in as provost and then immediately proceeded to badmouth and stab the guy who hired him in the back with donors and trustees. Eventually, it got so bad that the President just threw up his hands at a board meeting and quit on the spot. Ono then got the job. Like I said, a really bad human being.

The "to UC's detriment" is just my uninformed opinion, really. If the guy had an issue with how state resources were being split between UC and OSU, I think he should have pursued a remedy internally. Instead, he did it publicly, which I think made UC look bad and I'm guessing irritated some people at the Ohio Department of Higher Education who he should have gone to instead.
