2024 Fall Camp and Other Tidbits

Full-blown LB there. I thought that is where he would end up and he seems to have embraced it, good career choice and good for the team. Seems on a trajectory similar to Simmons from Clemson, but I think there is a bigger payday for him at LB once he adapts to the position.

Simmons is the apt comparison at the moment, but I'm hoping for an Urlacher-type trajectory with him moving up from safety.

The media availability today was Day and the coordinators

What I liked most was the juxtaposition of what the coordinators said

Chip said there are points where he is saying, “well I wouldn’t have called that play if I’d known he would play that defense”; and Knowles said that Chip keeps him off balance

It’s great that iron sharpening iron applies to the players; but it sounds like the most interesting matchup in camp is Kelly vs Knowles.

I’d just say….

Ohio State took Michigan to the wire, in the Big House, last year.

Nobody really came close to giving Michigan that type of game other than OSU.

Michigan had the oldest team in the P5 by far…..and it paid off. This doesn’t even mention Connor Stalions….

I think the criticism of OSU being finesse is fair yet a bit misguided. I think OSU has shown they can compete across the line, but Michigan has owned them for a few years…..the problem is….Michigan can’t have (7) offensive lineman who average the age of 24 years old going forward…

I just think a lot of context is missed in Michigans championship run. They were the best team in the country, and they won the title. They also had (7) offensive lineman who made NFL rosters at an average age of 23.5. They utilized the Covid rule and won in the trenches….its actually that simple.

Let’s not forget a RB who scored 27 touchdowns, a first round QB and a good set of skill out wide.

I don’t think the signals meant much in our game but who knows?

They lost what 17 starters and I think 40+ seniors this year? People saying they’ll not skip a beat (particularly on defense) are so full of shit.

The defense should have a good DE play and elite DT play. However, they’re severely undervaluing what their LBs did for them last year and now they’re starting over new there. Then the secondary IMO is hot garbage. Yes they have Will Johnson but who else?

IMO, they’re dangerously thin everywhere due to the losses to the NFL and they have a pretty tough schedule too. Let’s see what they even have left by seasons end.
