The run blocking is going to look bad because our guys were consistently outnumbered and Indiana was jumping plays like a mofo. That has as much to do with formations and tendencies as it does missing any assignments. Yeah assignments were missed but there were a half dozen plays yesterday where Indiana just knew exactly how to attack the play and made a hell of a play where we had no chance. Hopefully the coaches will recognize that and the line will gel over time and everything will get a lot smoother

You think them having their DC being a guy who was on our staff last year had anything to do with that?

I don’t think anyone’s screaming for Brown as much as it is seeing what he can do. By all accounts he has been advertised as 1a/b depending upon the week going into this season. If the team is struggling to move the ball and there’s a turnover by the first QB, why wouldn’t you want to see if the offense runs better with the second qb in?

I think everyone wanting to see Brown wants to see him with the same playbook as McCord and see how the offense responds. Outside the stupids on X, no one is bashing McCord, but questioning the rotation. And the beat writers job is to take questions like that and ask them to the coach. That’s why there is a post-presser. Otherwise, everyone would just say “Don’t ask the coach anything he gets paid for these decisions… have a great day.”

I’m MORE worried about the people that don’t want to see the other option at QB. Those are the people that are trying to confirm their own bias by only seeing “their guy.” (Which is weird to have any bias in this situation)
Agreed.

It’s not that I’m pulling for Devin for example. My intrigue personally is because Devin was stated as having pulled away briefly in camp and was really a 1b option. If it’s that close and Devin even maybe outplayed Kyle some of fall then that’s an enormous disservice to the team for not seeing what Devin can do. Particularly considering his mobility.

Frankly, if Devin is in he more than likely scores on that QB draw instead of running into the block like Kyle did.

We have to go over 10 years back to find a 3 loss regular season.
Not saying it's impossible, but also don't see it with this team. There's questions on O, but the D also looks stout.
It sucks we can't seem to get the O and D rocking at the same time.
Day needs to beat Michigan.

History doesn't repeat itself....... but it echoes

This echoes 2004 to me.

I hope to dear Woody in heaven Day can close that fucked up ass season the way Tressel did.

I can totally get it. Sometimes you just graduate/lose too much. I am at peace with it. Have been all off season tbh but he has to beat tsun. He just has to to save his job.......but you all know that has been my stance for a while now. I don't care if some think that's too negative or dead on the money. I care about recognizing reality and dealing with it.

I'm not sure Gene was doing that on his way out.

My only question to this would be, if the coaches see this everyday and decided McCord is the guy they roll with, what do we need to see? Why do some think we can make a better decision than coaches? To the point where people are accusing coach Day of trying to appease parents, only preventing a transfer, and other unfounded rumors.

This team is far more seasoned than 2004. We didn’t lose as many players from last year as you think. The issue is we lost 3 really important plays with PJ, Jones and Stroud.

That said, yeah I can see how this team ends up 8-4 I really can. I don’t think we will but I think the ND game will tell us everything we need to know.

I said it echoes. I didn't say it exactly repeats itself.

This team is more than likely going to lose more than 2 game before it ever sets foot in Ann Arbor. I hope its less.

I think we’ll get it figured out but think we’ll likely drop one.

Rewatched the highlights again of the IU game and I’m confident we get it figure out on offense. So many plays where Simmons literally was blocking no one. IMO that tells me he’s not sure what to do really. If we can get better these next 2 weeks and get a win vs ND we’ll be where we need to be by Late October.

I hope this is satire. Fans speculate, coaches coach - welcome to sports lol. If you are seriously advocating for never questioning a coach, then why even have press interviews, message boards, sports talk shows, or any commentary at all? Weird take to think a football coach is somehow above question.

I’m more intrigued that we only got the ball to Marv twice, 0 passing touchdowns against Indiana… and you DONT want to see the highly touted, highly praised 4* qb on our roster that has been in competition all camp?

He really should just transfer before he burns up his year of eligibility. Day likes QBs who exhaust all avenues before tucking and running. Frankly, LK should be looking to get out as well. His style is despised by Day.
So, let me get this straight. Day despises the style of play that LK has but still recruited him?

The problems on offense start and end with the O Line

It’s that simple.
Yes. The podcast daily with Birm and Bill today really sums it up best.

numerous occasions when the OL had multiple guys literally blocking no one, odd play designs, and lack of execution. They also mentioned we look really odd when pulling and I totally agree. We do this weird shuffle thing instead of sprinting to where we need to pull to.

Are you doing that thing where people on the internet read one thing and then reply to something that wasn’t actually said?

Where did I advocate for never questioning a coach? Or where did I say a coach was above question?
