Re-watched the game and it wasn't as bad as I initially thought. McCord made some expected mistakes but he had an OK game. His biggest blunder was not cutting right at the goal line which would have been a sure TD. Passing wise Kyle just needs to wait a little longer for the receivers to get open instead of always dumping it off.
Stover really impressed. Nearly 100 yds receiving. 5 receptions.
Chip also impressed blocking and running. 7 yds per carry plus a nice catch.
Miyan with two rushing TD's
Henderson did good as well. It wasn't his fault #44 kept blowing up plays in the backfield.
Julian Fleming also impressed.

Stover cannot have better stats than MHJ..if he does we won’t beat ND PSU or scUM. I like Stover but the defense wins if he not MH is getting the targets. If you have a nuclear weapon use it instead of your conventional weapon.

“I would have liked to see Devin play a little bit more, but we went three-and-out there (on Brown’s first series in the game) and I was worried that we weren’t going to be able to get into a rhythm,” Day said. “We already felt a little clunky early on. Missed on some short-yardage situations, didn’t convert on some third downs.

“I didn’t want to run the risk of putting ourselves in a bad spot by continuing to move those guys in and out. But going in, really wanted to play Devin some more, would like to do that moving forward.”

Anybody know who missed their assignment by not blocking him? Or is the play supposed to be a "quick hitter" and just beat the linebacker run blitz? I do remember one play where Chip Trayanum got through the line before #44 could get to him. #44 dove at him and missed (i.e. whiffed it).

Weren’t the first two plays of Brown’s series called runs? Given the climate of the game I’m wondering what he thought would happen at the time.

That’s probably my biggest gripe from all of this. It’s like you’re distancing yourself from figuring out what you have.

Yep he treated Brown as a backup QB playing in garbage time running the clock. Which is what I feared. Instead of giving him a legit shot

(6:09 - 2nd) Miyan Williams run for 6 yds to the OSU 35
  • 3rd & 1 at OSU 35

(6:09 - 2nd) Devin Brown run for 3 yds to the OSU 32
  • 4th & 4 at OSU 32

(3:58 - 2nd) Jesse Mirco punt for 55 yds, punt out-of-bounds at the IU 42 , Jaylin Lucas returns for 29 yds to the IU 42
Yeah, the paly calling on Brown's first series looked like they were trying to prevent him from failing as opposed to giving him an opportunity to succeed..

We are all dumber for having read this.
OK, Einstein. Please explain why Stroud was willing to lose to Michigan just so that he could preserve his incredibly bad record of refusing to run when the defense gave him virtually no choice. Please explain why probably his best game of his career was the Georgia game when, surprise, he actually decided to run because Georgia had covered all his options and it was “do or die”.

Stroud wasn't willing; I think that it was a coaches' decision, not Stroud's. Ohio State had potentially 3 more games (i.e. B1G CCG and 2 CFP games) to play after the scUM game and Day did not want to risk an injury to Stroud by letting him run. He knew there was a big drop-off in talent between Stroud and his QB2. Basically in the Georgia game he accepted the (injury) risk of letting Stroud run as if you lose that game the season is over. Besides (with all the injuries that Ohio State had) it was they only way Ohio State had a legitimate chance of winning.

CJ is good for one good scramble in big games. It just happened to be called back more often than not. Oregon was a drive killer. He scrambled for a first on 3rd and long and it was called for holding. Same thing as Michigan in 21. Killed any momentum they had.

Those two stick out to me more than others.
