We have to go over 10 years back to find a 3 loss regular season.
Not saying it's impossible, but also don't see it with this team. There's questions on O, but the D also looks stout.
It sucks we can't seem to get the O and D rocking at the same time.
Day needs to beat Michigan.

The way I see it, if 2021 wasn't a 3-4 loss season, I don't think this year is either. That team was extremely young, had a DC demoted after the 2nd game, and the defense was awful. I think the schedule was about the same, maybe easier due to home games. Oregon had 10 wins, MSU had 11, Michigan made the playoffs. PSU will probably be better this year and playing at Wisconsin is always tough.

This team has the 2 obvious concerns of QB and OL. I'm not really worried about QB, it's more a question of are they good or elite. The 2nd is a legit concern and will take time to figure out. Losing 3 games isn't out of the question, I just don't see any point in worrying about it until we see more from the offense and go to ND.

Why can other teams retool at OL and we can’t? Recruiting development or no plan.

But it wasn't. And given Day's track record, there's hope that he will be able to help McCord (and Brown and the rest) learn from the mistake.

Playing woulda coulda shoulda will just make you miserable, especially since there isn't jack shit you can do about it.
I’m not… I’ve maintained that either QB is fine by me so I’m not saying this to justify Devin.

Im saying I don’t understand the “we needed the safer option” statement because Kyle has done this before. That also one of these times it’ll be points on the board for the other team.

I don’t care who the QB is but I also think both should be given the same sort of reps too.

Particularly you watch Colorado with I don’t know who on their OL play on the road vs a good team and they gave Sanders enough time to go down the field.

Eventually coach is going to have to let his OL prove themselves. Yesterday probably wasn’t the best time to do that I agree. Especially considering who we play these next two games.

But he can preserve his eligibility by not playing. Surely he will read the writing on the wall. He seems like a good young man who thought he actually had a chance. Day is very very stubborn……to a fault. He will never admit the mistake by laying him over McCord. KM will be given more leash than any QB since JTB.
Brown redshirted last year. Sitting out the season by choice just wastes a year of eligibility either way.
Day obviously has his reasons for doing what he does and that's what he gets paid for. I just laugh at all the couch coaches who seem to think they know more than the staff, especially when they haven't seen one minute of what goes on at practice. I said it as soon as it was announced that McCord would start the game.......as soon as he throws his first incompletion or pick people would be screaming for Brown and sure enough, here we are.

Recruiting was not optimal ahead of Frye coming in. Studs had lots of projects. If Frye can put together a respectable Oline this year. It will be an excellent job. Simmons is a project from what I saw yesterday and that’s not good at LT.
Will echo this, Stud missed on guys that you could retool with at an elite level that OSU is at as a team. So Frye got put in a tough spot and Simmons and Cutler was about the best he could do through the portal after a gap in recruiting talent.

Not giving up on Simmons or the OL as a whole after one game though (not saying you were going there buckeyebri, I just know there are plenty that might be saying that), I have seen a lot of OLs with new faces struggle early and then gel as the season goes along. What we saw against IU was about what I expected, but they did pull it together for the most part in the second half and gave me some hope.

Next two games are crucial to really get on the same page as a unit before ND...they have a good defensive front and we need to make some leaps in terms of not missing assignments.

We have some talent, that just needs some experience and time working together. I expected they would be helping Simmons.

I don’t think anyone’s screaming for Brown as much as it is seeing what he can do. By all accounts he has been advertised as 1a/b depending upon the week going into this season. If the team is struggling to move the ball and there’s a turnover by the first QB, why wouldn’t you want to see if the offense runs better with the second qb in?

I think everyone wanting to see Brown wants to see him with the same playbook as McCord and see how the offense responds. Outside the stupids on X, no one is bashing McCord, but questioning the rotation. And the beat writers job is to take questions like that and ask them to the coach. That’s why there is a post-presser. Otherwise, everyone would just say “Don’t ask the coach anything he gets paid for these decisions… have a great day.”

I’m MORE worried about the people that don’t want to see the other option at QB. Those are the people that are trying to confirm their own bias by only seeing “their guy.” (Which is weird to have any bias in this situation)

The run blocking is going to look bad because our guys were consistently outnumbered and Indiana was jumping plays like a mofo. That has as much to do with formations and tendencies as it does missing any assignments. Yeah assignments were missed but there were a half dozen plays yesterday where Indiana just knew exactly how to attack the play and made a hell of a play where we had no chance. Hopefully the coaches will recognize that and the line will gel over time and everything will get a lot smoother
