But he did. It's obvious he doesn't trust Brown to take care of the ball, which is why he came in once, they ran it 3 times, and then he gave him garbage time throws. I imagine they split reps against YSU and he'll get backup reps the rest of the season. Should he have just come out and said Brown wasn't going to split reps and get as much playing time? Yeah, but honestly I don't give a shit.
Im not worried about who theQB is…just do your job. Brown McCord or next man up.

He really should just transfer before he burns up his year of eligibility. Day likes QBs who exhaust all avenues before tucking and running. Frankly, LK should be looking to get out as well. His style is despised by Day.

Can't transfer until after the season. The portal is closed until December.
But he can preserve his eligibility by not playing. Surely he will read the writing on the wall. He seems like a good young man who thought he actually had a chance. Day is very very stubborn……to a fault. He will never admit the mistake by laying him over McCord. KM will be given more leash than any QB since JTB.

Already redshirted last year. I don’t think he gains anything from leaving early. Plus, he’s an injury away from starter - and with this OL, I expect McCord to take some hits.

1. He can't enter the portal during the season. Playing or not playing at this point is irrelevant in terms of his eligibility.
2. He has already redshirted a year. Unless he grayshirts due to an injury that he hasn't had yet and hopefully never will, this year will count either way.

It’s not obvious to anyone. All reports by Day leading up to yesterday was that the QBs were neck-and-neck. There was no indication of turnover issues by Brown. In fact, Brown came in AFTER McCord threw an INT in a tight, early game. Then they gave Brown a 4th quarter, backup playbook to work off of.

If he’s worried about turnover issues with Brown, why bench McCord at all, just bring him in the next drive and let him shake it off. Brown was given no opportunities to show in-game accuracy and playmaking abilities.

As much as everyone hates Zach Smith, his assessment is looking spot on. He said that Day is trying to prevent another Joe Burrow situation where 1 transfers, goes to another prominent school but with an expanded playbook where he can show out. If that’s not the case, I think a lot of us are confused with the rotation.

The idea that Day despises the dt style is ridiculous. He's the reason Fields came to OSU, and LK isn't a holdover from a Meyer class, he came in just last year. With the WRs OSU has, I also want the QBs going through every read before tucking and running or checking down right away.

Also, he was literally calling QB counter and draw plays for them, and while I don't mind working those plays in at times, we saw why they shouldn't be running a lot. Both are capable scramblers, not gifted runners.

CJ was given a lot more room to start the season in '21. They ran Tresselball the entire first half yesterday.

Yet, Kyle is the one who throws the INT.

In fact for as little as Kyle has played he seems to throw at least one Interception per game and they all sort of are similar. Late, avoiding pressure and across the middle.

This defense is good enough to handle a QB who will make the occasional error if that means they’re more of a play maker.

My issue is we will never know if we don’t attempt to play both.

I’ll go ahead and call my shots at this point; ND, Penn State and Tsun with a very strong chance of the Purdue and or Wisconsin trips biting us.

More people start to wonder if after 5 years, things are better or worse than Day found them.

We have to go over 10 years back to find a 3 loss regular season.
Not saying it's impossible, but also don't see it with this team. There's questions on O, but the D also looks stout.
It sucks we can't seem to get the O and D rocking at the same time.
Day needs to beat Michigan.

From what I read about the open practices in fall camp, Brown would make some amazing throws but was throwing more INTs and putting the ball in jeopardy.

I don't think he benched McCord. He talked about wanting to get Brown in every 2-3 drives in the post game press conference. Brown came in after 3 drives.

OSU has 4 scholarship QBs right now. One is a true freshman, another an emergency backup. Of course Day doesn't want to lose his only other QB that could execute the offense at a high level.

Yet, Kyle is the one who throws the INT.

On a 4th down, where his first read got knocked down and an incompletion is the same as a turnover.

I think it's obvious all the statements were Day trying to play 4d chess. Maybe there was a part of the locker / coaches room that's behind Brown. Maybe Day thought he could keep Freeman guessing. Maybe he's just trying to keep Brown engaged and motivated because he knows this OL is a liability (see all the 2 TE sets and FB)
I don't know.
But yesterday feels like a clear message that Kyle is his choice, and only Kyle is going to get a real shot to run the playbook.

Then tuck the ball and run.

That could’ve been a pick six had it gone completely wrong which means a 10-10 game when they had no shot vs our defense.

That’s exactly how you lose games at ND or at Wisconsin.

But it wasn't. And given Day's track record, there's hope that he will be able to help McCord (and Brown and the rest) learn from the mistake.

Playing woulda coulda shoulda will just make you miserable, especially since there isn't jack shit you can do about it.
