"Given the University’s statement that evidence was scant and the Conference’s assertions
unsupported, the Conference made affirmative efforts to verify the University’s prior knowledge
of and access to relevant evidence. Accordingly, pursuant to the mandatory cooperation
provisions in the Sportsmanship Policy, the Conference requested the University’s consent to
allow the Conference to obtain from the NCAA all documents and information that the NCAA
had made available to the University in connection with the investigation into the impermissible
scheme. The University initially refused to provide such consent, citing confidentiality
provisions in the NCAA’s bylaws. The University also asserted that “[h]istorically, the NCAA,
to our knowledge, has not permitted disclosure.” The Conference promptly obtained written
confirmation from the NCAA that it did not object to providing such documents and information
upon receiving the University’s consent. The University ultimately provided its consent after
receiving this written confirmation from the NCAA."

...

"This additional evidence ... confirms what the evidence already reviewed by the Conference makes clear ...
This evidence also revealed significant new information from
interviews that the University attended, information that is covered by confidentiality under the
NCAA’s rules so as not discussed further here."
I presume that Ono was aware of this information as president of the university when the attempt at stonewalling the B1G occurred. It is absolutely stunning that Ono is trying to protect Harbaugh from this. Ono is willfully allowing the reputation of his university to be damaged on the hope that the football team will win a few more games that are almost certainly going to be vacated at some future date. It makes zero sense. I have to think that at any other university having a similar academic reputation, the president of the university would have put the coaches head on a spike by now.

I wouldn’t assume that all judges will be biased in favor of Harbaugh if they went to UM. It’s just as likely they are academics who resent the athletic department. Hopefully Harbaugh has drawn some nerd who spent their freshman year being tormented by jocks.
Until proven otherwise I'm going to assume he's a jocksniffer with season tickets....

In over his head. He can't promise tsun that he'll get them into the AAU or a P5 or a CCC designation. He can't give interviews demanding that the state make them Sparty's co-flagship. So, he's gone all-in on the other grift that he used at UC, and that's to attach himself to the athletic department and make it an extension of himself and his "brand."

If they are interviewing players and offering them immunity then they probably have something on that player that they can bargin with. Could these players have been placing bets with the knowledge that they had the other teams signs and had a competitive advantage to cover? I wouldn't call them whistleblowers if they are being offered immunity. If they are being offered immunity then they did something wrong. Just knowing of Stallions vast operation is enough to hand out penalties against the players.

To say the investigation is fast tracked is relative to what the definition of "fast" is. The school still would have 90 days to respond to any NCAA allegation. So every day that we don't get an allegation handed down is 90 days further down the road this is going.
If it's gambling with inside knowledge, that's a crime. NCAA would need turn that over to the feds, and let the FBI agents handle it. If it's just gambling, it's a huge ncaa violation, but I don't think it's a crime. Now, there is certainly a possibility that they could threaten the players with the possibility of "hey, let's get the fbi involved and see what really went on."

At the end of the day, if the NCAA didn't give Petitti solid evidence to move forward with the suspension, he wouldn't have. He was desperately trying to avoid that until backed into a corner by the other 13 schools and the NCAA evidence.

Also, they may have just gone to UM law, and never cared about tsun sports.

Yet, his pompous tsun ass tries to portray himself as someone who sits at home rereading Kierkegaard and Kant.

Interesting read regarding the Tennessee case:

Bottom line is that UT deserved a post season ban, but $ won out.

I believe the UM case is dramatically different due to the competitive advantage issue, but if they don't get a post season ban the whole thing is a farce.

Dollar fines are nothing. I can see it now as a booster walks up to the window to pay the fine:

"I'm here to pay the fine for the UM cheating scandal. And while I'm here can you give me one of those men's basketball championships and a couple of women's soccer titles for my wife."

"But sir, you realize there is a mandatory return policy for anything purchased at this window."

"Yes - but not really. You don't think taking down those Fab 5 banners actually changed anything do you?"

Ohio State beat Arkansas in that Sugar Bowl. 2010 season. Probably considered the 2011 Sugar Bowl.
You can say it's "Vacated", but it still happened.

Try to vacate M*ch*gan's successes on the field this year. It's just going to make the Big Ten and NCAA look silly. I mean, say that they win the Big Ten championship. The commissioner is going to hand them the trophy, knowing full well that the win will be vacated. It's just stupid.
Keep them out of the game. It's the only way to ensure that you don't have to take it away from them later.
