I guess the real question is... what's the month/year he purchased it ?
Was his bank account flush with cash from an angel donor, or from Vegas winnings?

Or from an outspoken certain owner of a sportsbook who happens to be a huge Michigan fan? How many bets were made through Barstool Sportsbook? How many Michigan players made bets through Barstool Sportsbook?

Medical retirements take an extensive paper trail to initiate. It then goes in front of board of medical professionals. One doesn't just go to somebody and say "I need to medically retire." A lot goes into it and everything is checked.

Just as a for instance of how deep it goes: I retired at my 24 years, to get the medical disability I received, my medical records were thoroughly reviewed and I went on countless appointments for checks and interviews with medical professionals.

A lot goes into it.
I agree. It's just very curious to me to see him considered to be "retired", yet being younger and also not appearing to have any big ailments. I'm not medically retired myself but I have several friends who are and it's a long path to go for sure. And I know a few that got denied too because of various reasons, usually not documenting everything but there were a few where their medical issues were judged to not be serious.

The VA loan and what he made from scUM doesn't make sense either unless he's getting something from somewhere else either. I guess my brain went to medical retirement from the military to make up the income gap.

I suspect it's just ignorant journalists throwing "retired" around because they're dumb.

It's B-nuts so take it for what it's worth.

Sounds a little far fetched. Allowing him to resign? Yes. They pay him off simply by making a phone call to a few football obsessed boosters or alums that have relatively large businesses that can add a (possibly unqualified) 150K employee without breaking a sweat. Steven Ross, anyone? That's how you pay him off.

Forgot about that clown. Yeah, he's exactly the kind of alum to give Stalions a nice 6 figure job to keep quiet.

@NFBuck @kujirakira @SEREbuckeye

Not to impugn the credibility of a military retiree unnecessarily, but what if he's out on a medical and it's, shall we say, more about documenting every headache or sniffle rather than a significant injury?

Suffice to say, I'd bet we all know people who game the system, and it's very clear Mr. Stalions likes gaming systems. Something to ponder.

All I could think is sleep apnea. I couldn't find anything about deploying, just... hanging out in CA. And I'm not sure what PTSD a Logistics Officer would get anyway (nooooo not Fedlog!!!!)
I'm just of the mind that WaPo wrote "retired", and all the sports journalists have just rolled with it. Everyone is repeating the wrong years at the Naval Academy too, though. I found he graduated in 2017, found the graduation record of him on the USNA edu website. But again... 1 outlet said he was there until 2016, and everyone just repeats it.

If you would have told me before the season that Michigan was going to get caught in some elaborate scheme that included their coach shaving a goatee off after being on the sidelines in full CMU gear I would have laughed you out of the room.

Two simplest explanations for the house in my opinion are either some creative financing from a lender who hooks up the program, at his own peril with Federal regulators, in Ann Arbor. Schizo sidebar: and maybe has for a long time who knows or maybe even an exchange to sniff jocks (literal tattgate)

Or he's getting paid a lot more money then what's been reported.

One thing I'm 100% on is that Ono is living down to my lowest expectations for how he would handle this.
I find this to be the most shocking part actually. As a bit of a tard myself I don't know the things you know ORD and live blissfully ignorant. The contrast between Ohio State handling Zach Smith or Jim Tressel and this situation up north couldn't be more stark.

It's pretty simple. One school acted the way one raises their children to act as adults. The other school is acting like an indicted mob boss.

What probably happens here, unfortunately, is that Ward Manuel (who is the only one out of the three that probably tried to do the right thing) becomes the sacrificial lamb while Ono and Simple Jim move on like nothing happened. I have to admit I'm more pessimistic than I've been. tsun is clearly going full-Auburn on this.

MORE BREAKING NEWS: In a collaborative effort, the NCAA and BIG TEN have issued a new rule of "no bogger eating" on the sideline during a game. Those caught violating this rule, i.e. eating bogger's (whether they be your own or someone else's) can be given a 5 year show cause penalty under the new "that is gross" rule.
Note: Xichigan coach Jim Harbaugh, despite clear video evidence, has vehemently denied any bogger eating on the sideline and states that he is "bitterly disappointed" at said accusations.
