Sometimes the portal guys make a solid difference like the center TTUN got this past year, but many times they are just place fillers.

I feel like it's not fool proof.
TTUN's "strategy", including now the shot in the arm with the portal, is basically how Barry Alvarez kept Wisconsin competitive... bring in 2* and 3* guys and let them get 3+ years of playing experience. So about every 3rd or 4th year Wisconsin had a legit shot at a conference title (assuming OSU was having an off year).

So I'd say that TTUN's just doing what Wisconsin has been doing (up through Scott Frost, at least) for the last 25 years. It's nothing new - except with the added twist of the transfer portal, like I said.

I know I'm not supposed to post in here but you folks are going to have to forgive me because I can't find another thread to let this out in.

I absolutely detest our fanbase. I can't stand this sh*t anymore and it's making me physically angry at internet forum posts; which is always a losing play.

Right now, a significant portion of the fans are arguing that Harbaugh's NFL flirtations is NOT going to hurt recruiting, and in fact smart prospects will WANT to play for Michigan because Harbaugh is such an amazing coach that he generates perpetual interest as a candidate at ALL the top levels of football.

What's the problem with this theory? Oh I dunno, the fact that recruiting is ranked by numbers every single year and our recruiting classes have sucked the past two years even while this "amazing" coach did all that winning? Like HELLO? Earth to slappies? Obviously the f*cking kids don't agree with you because THEY ARE NOT F*CKING COMING HERE! You can't even say "Harbaugh is just a bad recruiter" because we HAD better classes than this until he started looking for the fire exit. Never mind that nothing about that TCU tape suggests we have "amazing coaching" to me.

Folks want to pretend like this is a POTENTIAL problem that can be argued away on a message board. Gimme a f*cking break man; this is ALREADY HAPPENING and no amount of double talk and wishful thinking is going to change that. It's RIGHT F*CKING THERE in the recruiting numbers.

Shoulda fought my little brother for the Sparty slippers as a child, cause this is infuriating...
Hence the acronym: DFBIA...

It's [almost] like a competition among "blueblood" TTUN fans to see who can outdo the next guy trying to choke the "Harvard of the West" / "the leaders and the best" sausage.

And, even moreso for [some of] the fans who are not TSUN grads... as if the harder and deeper they choke down that sausage, the more the University will consider them like a grad.

Now this is a guy they actually had some real hope for. Though he only caught 19 passes in 2 years so not much basis other than "he's really fast". But they had been hoping for him to become a big player since that breakout game he had against Sparty in 2021.

so an already lackluster bunch of skill position players lacks even more luster.

I'm sure jump pass Jesus will be able to meditate his way through it.

100% chance they double down on the same "OUR WRS ARE THE BEST IN THE B1G!" crap they were barfing out before this season again for 2023. In DFBIA fashion they will come up with some fantastic mental gymnastics about why they were lackluster in 2022 but were just "ramping up for a huge 2023"

Yeah, folks are blowing this one off on the forums because he's a former 3 star and he more or less sucked all year this season; but looking at our depth chart, Anthony was almost certainly going to start next season. Furthermore, I will be REALLY surprised if he doesn't end up with Sparty; a team that will likely make better use of his talents than 1.5 targets a game.

To me, personally? This one actually hurts us. I could care less about 6th string ends, and 7th string linebackers.

Ronnie Bell declaring for the draft instead of coming back for a 6th year.

He had 62 receptions in 2022, the next best WR had 32. While he's just a decent-good college player and not a stud WR like some of DFBIA have made him out to be over the years, he was their "mr reliable" at the position in 2022. Big loss.
