Confidence is ok. But when it comes to basing it on last year, looking at last year and saying "LOOK AT THESE EXPLOSIVE WRS AND PASSING OFFENSE" is peak DFBIA.
A more reasonable expectation would be “boy, I sure hope we can man ball them again next season. We are big and strong and they are soft. We will impose our will and run them out of the building again.”

But DFBIA can’t help themselves with the “our offense is going to be more explosive than theirs!” takes, the absolute dumbest possible take going into the season.

Well, what else can expect from them
I'm just waiting for one of their coaches, players or Desmond to say that CJ is overrated and wouldn't start for scUM

I can already see the "Stroud only looks better because he throws the ball more" Logic from DFBIA.

I'd LOVE to see McNamara or McCarthy go out there with that scUM offense and toss the ball 35+ times a game.

The 2 times McNamara threw 35+ passes last year.....The Loss to Sparty and the near loss to a 3-9 Nebraska team. The other time in 2020 was the 4 OT escape of Rutgers.

Corum and Donovan Edwards could end up being a pretty good tandem, but didn't they lose several O-lineman? And there's a lot of question marks about their passing game. MacNamara is a game manager, nothing more. McCarthy has the physical tools, but he still looked VERY raw last year. They all have been lamenting their QB development for years, now suddenly they think heading into year 8 that they got it figured out & McCarthy will be developed properly? MacNamara performed reasonably well last year, but that's because he wasn't asked to do too much.

Their cheesecake schedule gives them plenty of time to "coach up" a QB and figure out a serviceable O Line before their date with destiny.

Typical DFBIA drooling over players measurables, even though they haven't really done anything actually on the field.

I know we're replacing two NFL first-round caliber draft picks on the D-Line this year, but I have to say after years of wandering in the DonBrownDLine Desert, it feels good to know that D-Line won't be a glaring weakness, even as we seek to find the next man up one the edges. Even with losing Hinton somewhat inexplicably it feels like the interior line will be a strength and we have loads of options to throw at the outside spots.

After seeing the Enemy Ranking for QB and my very general understanding of the other team's offenses on this schedule. I am getting more and more convinced that our defense will be just fine. The only team that can truly threaten them appears to be OSU and they threaten just about anyone.

Maryland, Ped State, Nebrasky and Sparty seemed equipped to hurt them. That secondary is going to be swiss cheese without those 2 pass rushers in the QBs face every play.

They don't have top of the line QBs by any means but they have enough to attack and hurt a weak secondary.

Their run defense is a question mark until proven otherwise too.

I think we are all sleeping on Welschof.... looks like they are trying Grow-a-Hutch. Body composition and athleticism are equal, now its a matter of Welschof playing like Hutch. I'm glad they shed his weight, he didn't look right being so heavy.

I'm absolutely loving this defense. Smith and Jenkins manning the middle... with Morris, Welschof, Harrell on edge. Though the LB depth looks weak.

Welschof of course is Hutchinson 2.0

Morris is entering his 4th year, he was a generic 3* as a recruit and has 17 tackles and 0.5 sacks total.

Jaylen Harrell is coming into his 3rd season with a whopping 17 tackles and 0 sacks in his career

Only DFBIA can look at a cast of former low 4* and generic 3* who have shown nothing actually on the field and say "Yea thats a great defense"
