Michigan beefing up security in football stadium tunnel before Nebraska game in wake of multiple altercations

Michigan experienced multiple altercations in the shared tunnel at Michigan Stadium in the Wolverines' previous two home games against Penn State and Michigan State, and it is beefing up its security ahead of Saturday's game against Nebraska. The Michigan athletic department and UM Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) reviewed game-day operations on the field and in the tunnel, and also examined “access thresholds” according to a statement Thursday from Kurt Svoboda, Michigan's athletic director for external communications and public relations, per the Detroit News.

“The most recognizable adjustment will be an increase in security staffing in areas bordering the tunnel opening to the field so that we can better monitor crowd and participant interactions,” Svoboda said in the statement.

There will be a “more pronounced” gap between Michigan and the visiting team accessing the tunnel at halftime and postgame.

Attorney: Michigan-Michigan State postgame tunnel incident instigated by Wolverines

An attorney representing a suspended Michigan State player involved in the fight in the tunnel at Michigan Stadium following the Wolverines’ victory over the Spartans on Oct. 29 is saying Michigan State players were responding to the actions of a Michigan player.

David Diamond, a lawyer based in Los Angeles, released a statement saying, “We have learned that the UM player started the altercation. Eyewitnesses have described it as charging with his helmet and throwing a punch.”

Reached by The News, Diamond, who is not revealing at this time which player he is representing, said the point of his statement was to push back against the narrative that Michigan’s players are innocent in the altercation and all of the blame lies with the Michigan State players.

“It is imperative that this is an objective and fair investigation, which I believe it will be based on my communications with the lead investigator on the case,” Diamond told The News. “The reality of the situation forces us to determine why the Michigan players were in the tunnel at that time, what they did to instigate the event and whether the response by the Michigan State players was in self-defense or proportionate to the threat they felt from the Michigan players.”

Just too fucking arrogant to take the quick public relations W and move on. They had to push their luck. They had to publicly lobby for felony charges. They had to go after Sparty for a payday. They just couldn't walk away. They really can't help themselves.

The University knows there’s an with the tunnel. The BIG knows there’s an issue with the tunnel. The question is, will they do anything or be forced to do anything about it.

Is it me or does TTUN look one dimensional?
I was thinking the exact same thing today! I wasn’t going to post it, but once I looked at their stats today, and then the rest of their games. I realized that McCarthy hasn’t had to actually win any games. If OSU can get up early(by at least 2TDs), then we will really see what scUM is made of. But it’s a tall task with how good their OL and DL have been at controlling the clock.

They are completely one dimensional.

They pretty much have zero down the field passing threat. They mix some dink and dunks in here and there but they aren’t beating anyone if they have to throw the ball to keep up
