2022 College Football Polls

@DaddyBigBucks needs to come up with a new metric. I feel a tensorflow application may be required. I’ll work up the terraform to provision you an environment in Google Cloud and enable BiqQuery and Vertex for the ML. Let’s get at it!
The only terraforming I know happened when Spock was jettisoned to the Genesis planet in the Mutara Nebula.

BB73 - always like your rankings you used to do this time of the year for playoff positioning. For example, 13-0 OSU may be #2 on the list but 11-1 OSU may be #11. Whether I agree with the list or not, is a good starting point for thinking about what may need to happen for OSU to have a mulligan available. I don’t remember seeing you do it for a few years now but I may have missed it.

I haven’t done that this year, but I’ll try to put it together after tomorrow’s games.

Heres a scenario...

Georgia 12-0 SEC champ
THE OSU 12-0 B1G champ
TCU 12-0 Big 12 champ

Who's #4?

Clemson (loss to nd) wins out = acc champ with 1 loss

USC (loss to utah) wins out = pac 12 champ with 1 loss

Tenn (loss to georgia) and ttun (loss to OSU) both 1 loss but no conference championship

Oregon/Penn st/Bama with 2 L's

That's why I hate preseason rankings. They never pan out, and only serve to unjustly weigh future rankings. No rankings should exist until like week 6. Give the teams time to play the game and show themselves.

Southern Cal, IMO

Legacy Blue Blood program
Large National brand

Toss up between Tenn. and USC. I’d lean Tenn. based on history. They would have more quality wins than USC and the best loss.

I think they would lean to USC because they realize (a) they have really pissed off the B1G and (b) other conferences not SEC, (c) the West Coast feels very aggrieved and (d) they need to be able to cite examples when other conferences got it when it was a judgement call. USC is a blue blood and it would make this a more "nation-wide" CFP.

You think they care about who's upset?

I feel about the CCG the way I feel about the post season conference tourney in b-ball. If I were an HC for a 12 - 0 OSU verses a 7-5 west champ, I'd refuse to play in the CCG. What is there to gain that you haven't already achieved? If forced to go, I sure as shit wouldn't risk my key players. especially if the game with Michigan is within 10 points and they remain in the CFP 4 slot - Michigan gets a bye to begin getting ready while you're out there risking more injuries.

1. Win THE GAME
2. Win The B1G
3. Make the CFP
4. Win the CFP

Kind of hard to accomplish team goal #2 if you don't play in the B1G CCG. Also, you risk the wrath of the committee for refusing to play in the B1G championship. It would set a bad precedent.
Bad optics all the way around and I can't see Day or Smith ever considering it, let alone doing it.
