This may not be popular, but I'd like to see them really enforce the downfield linemen rule. Sure, points are more exciting than the Alabama - LSU 9-6 game, but games with teams just running up and down the field don't excite me really. A 50-yard TD pass isn't that exciting when it's the 10th time it's happened in the game. If you just enforced that rule, games wouldn't go back to being slogs. There are too many athletes now and developed QBs. The NFL enforces the rule and they've still upped their scoring.

 "games where teams are constantly gashing us for big plays doesnt excite us so they need to toughen rules to stop that" - DFBIA take of the day

I think they might be too stupid to realize the linemen are allowed to be down the field once the pass is completed?

If the pass is behind the line of scrimmage they can be downfield, too.
I've never heard that the linemen downfield penalty isn't enforced enough. Enforce the holding and offensive facemasking more, if you want. But I don't think that this is much of a deal.

They are already working on the spin that the defense will be bad this year because it will be "too complex" and needs a few years to settle in.

Amazing how hard it is for them to admit that they just dont have the players or depth to compete with the big boys on a anywhere near consistent basis.
