The 1973 Oklahoma Sooners had two RBs with over 1000 yards (Joe Washington, 1173; Waymon Clark 1014), and QB Steve Davis added 887 yards ... in an 11 game season. So yeah, not really unprecedented. But definitely a throwback to the good old days of the Wishbone offense.

Yea you can find quite a few examples, even in more recent times, that have done what that guy thinks is "unprecedented", and done it better (in non triple option offenses)

First off the top of the head is Arkansas, McFadden and Jones both went for 1K+ 2 years in a row in 06/07

I don't find scUM grinding mediocre-bad teams to death at 45 or so rushes a game to be particularly impressive.

The D in DFBIA question posed

Is this Michigan football team similar to the 2002 NC OSU team with Clarett?

Theres some REALLY stupid posts in this thread, a few of my favorite

https://www.quora.com/Has-there-ever-been-a-college-football-team-with-two-1-000-yard-rushers

Sure - four major colleges have done it in 2018 alone:
Connecticut - Kevin Mensah and David Pindell
Memphis - Patrick Taylor Jr. and Darrell Henderson
Oklahoma - Kyler Murray and Kennedy Brooks
Pittsburgh - Qadree Ollison and Darrin Hall

… and three more did it in 2017:
Georgia - Sony Michel and Nick Chubb
Georgia Tech - Taquon Marshall and Kirvonte Benson
Navy - Will Abey and Malcolm Perry

It’s been done around 86 times in NCAA history. Note, however, that before 2000, bowl games didn’t count in individual player stats, as they do now; so by the current definition there may have been many more. (For example, Barry Sanders’ single-season record 2628 rushing yards in 1988 does not include the 222 he gained in the Holiday Bowl; counting the way they do now, that would be a 2850 yard season!)

One team in division 1-A / FBS history had three 1000-yard rushers: the 2009 Nevada Wolfpack (Vai Taua, Colin Kaepernick, and Luke Lipincott.) The 2008–10 Wolfpack are also the only team in major college history to produce a 1000-yard tandem in three consecutive seasons.

So not exactly unprecedented:roll2::lol:

Minnesota did it two years in a row with Maroney and Barber in 2003 and 2004. It was cited as the 30th time to happen in the NCAA in 2003. “Unprecedented.”

According to this article from 2009, at that time it had happened 46 times.

So if that 86 number is true, means its even less "unprecedented" now a days, since its happened at least 40 times in the last 12 seasons.

What is actually unprecedented is the stupidity required to think this mush rush offense is going to work against good teams.

because it isn't

There is a hilarious amount of them who still believe that they are waiting until The Game to open up the playbook.

I'm sure they risked losing to Rutgers and Nebraska for that.

Washington, Rutgers, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Nebraska are a combined 16-20.

Only Wisconsin has a winning record.

They beat two of those 5 teams by a combined 10 points.
