granted... but the problem with tulsa and oregon wasn't necessary / entirely because of their QBs, was it? their RBs were burning as just as much or even more than their QBs.

Not the QB or RB per se, it's the setting the edge in general that needed to be done. We crashed and didnt replace or drag the edge out and it burnt us terribly. Tulsa found the Alabama play calls with the trips assignments so we wont know if thats fixed unless we see it again but hopefully the QB will have to make those reads with people in their face.

OK. There is absolutely no way that this defense will show up as the Silver Bullets in Ann Arbor this year.

They have so many young pieces on defense that it's hard to tell what things will look like on Saturday, let alone for TTUN.

You cant speed up until the game slows down.

Lots of new players still learning a D that changed 2 games into the season.

When they stop thinking we may indeed see silver bullets flying.

I'm inclined to agree. We're starting to see some legit play by young, athletic, and talented players and the staff isn't (obviously, after the Pope-ery this weekend) giving vets any free passes. It could still go either way, but I think there's a chance that the defense could be dangerous midway through the conference schedule.

We saw this some and I hope it continues... but why not put Hickman and Craig Young on the field at the same time? They're bigger secondary guys but lighter LBs. Yes it may make us vulnerable against the run but being 220 and really fast sort of makes up for lacking 20 pounds.

Simon and Young at LB then add Burke, Brown, Martinez, Ransom and Hickman as the back 5.

Give me that Defense to roll with and I'll sub as needed for fresh legs and situations. Heck, maybe move Hickman back in centerfield to be a Hooker type safety and sure tackler. The young guys are producing. PLAY THEM!

Just sayin': I'm not overly optimistic either; but it could happen, the defense has 7 more games to "put it all together". By the time the scUM game (i.e. game #12) rolls around all the Freshmen that have been playing will pretty much have Sophomore experience.

Roll with those 4 and keep spreading time to the 2 who play the best.

Absolutely not on Eichenberg! How does any LB play over 50 snaps and not record a single tackle!?! He's played over 70 snaps in 2 games and had 1 tackle! I'd much rather have Teradja Mitchell with the other 3 and use Eichenberg solely on Special Teams and as depth on an only by need basis.

Yeah I hesitated with him but IMO he's improved and he's been close on a few blitzes. Plus we need to play at least a few people lol.

Close on a few blitzes? He drops in coverage and he’s not even in the picture. If you can’t cover, tackle sideline to sideline and can’t get their on the blitz what else is there? Simon has flashed, Mitchell has flashed.
