In addition, the organization has asked for a spot at the table in further CFP discussion.

The more I think about it, the more this annoys me. They want the games in neutral sites. Of course, we can and will bitch about what they consider "neutral" sites. But my point is that I don't want neutral sites. If we're talking about the 12-team playoff consideration, the 5-8- teams would get home field advantage in their first game. That's how it should be. Home field for the better ranks. Then, in my opinion, Teams 1-4 should get home field for the second round games. Neutrality can go drink its own pee.

:slappy:

someone actually said that. Classic.

Miami won how many NC's on their home field?
USC went all the way across town to the Rose Bowl for how many?
LSU in the Sugar Bowl? 2003, '07 and '19 if I am not mistaken.
Bama to either New Orleans or Atlanta seems a perfectly neutral and competitively fair setting.

Come on up for the ConAgra Bowl in Indianapolis or, god forbid, one of the open air northern stadiums for a playoff game then talk to us about fair you fucking clown.
Preach, Brother!

You might add that USC plays a regular-season game in the Rose Bowl every other year and that until 1972 the referees in the game came from PAC. Also worthy of note, Big Ten teams could not repeat a Rose Bowl trip, leaving the 2nd place team as the conference rep. In case of a tie, the team who had gone the longest without going to the Rose Bowl went. Further, they couldn't go to other bowls until the late 70s. Imagine if the 1969 Buckeye squad could have gone to the Cotton Bowl to play #1 Texas -

Meanwhile, in crazytown. I also like how they seed Ohio State 9th in their fantasy expanded playoff.

Uh, just a minute... 1. you've got Ohio State @ #9, Oklahoma @ 4, Michigan @ 3 - oh I see, Michigan wins The Game. I'm insulted, but be that as it may, how insulted is Georgia when they see who they have to beat to get to the finals versus your Bearcats. You must think this is the basketball tournament and the Bearcats are suddenly UNC, Duke, or Kentucky.

College Football Playoff projections: CBS Sports predicts first selection committee rankings

The first College Football Playoff top 25 rankings are less than a week away, so it is time to take a look at how the selection committee may vote in Tuesday's opening reveal.

CBS Sports college football analyst Jerry Palm released his first Playoff rankings projection this week and there is a surprise or two inside the top 5. This week's slate of games will take out at least one of the nation's nine remaining unbeatens and should change things up a bit heading into the first poll release.

The Big Ten is the only Power Five conference with two unblemished teams left with sixth-ranked Michigan battling eighth-ranked Michigan State on Saturday. The winner of that rivalry showdown is the instantaneous frontrunner in the nation's toughest league and should be right up there with Georgia next week, as long as the Bulldogs take care of business against Florida.

1. GEORGIA BULLDOGS
2. MICHIGAN WOLVERINES

CBS Sports: "Michigan has bounced back nicely from its pandemic-induced disaster of 2020."

247Sports take: Michigan is ranked just outside the top five in our most recent Playoff projection, that came prior to Iowa's upset loss to Purdue. It will be interesting to see where the committee puts the Wolverines after Saturday's game against Michigan State. If Jim Harbaugh's group goes on the road and wins in East Lansing, one would think the Wolverines are — at worst — inside the top 3 at 8-0. Michigan is in control of its Playoff destiny this late in the season for the third time in Harbaugh's tenure.

3. ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE
4. OHIO STATE BUCKEYES

CBS Sports: "Another team with a loss that looks to be in its expected form. The Buckeyes struggled on defense early this season, and Oregon was able to take advantage of that."

247Sports take: No team outside of Georgia has looked more complete than the Buckeyes over the past month and change. That is great news for Ohio State, whose Week 2 loss to Oregon halted College Football Playoff buzz for the preseason Big Ten favorite. Then, conference play happened and the Buckeyes look like the juggernaut most thought they would be this fall with C.J. Stroud at quarterback and a litany of weapons surrounding him.

5. CINCINNATI BEARCATS
6. OKLAHOMA SOONERS
7. MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS
8. OLE MISS REBELS
9. NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH
10. OREGON DUCKS

Regardless what CBS says, the long awaited 1st CFP Committee rankings come out this Tuesday.

There's obviously an egregious error in this list. Where's Clemson? Where's Dabo's (or is it Dumbo's) team? I thought they had an automatic qualifier spot. Obviously there's a bias against that mighty ACC.

Focus on how amazing it would be to watch Ohio State squeeze the life out of that ranking and bring them back to reality. Especially if it’s a blowout. I can almost taste the tears of the bitterly disappointed milkman.

I can picture it but I don't think they make it to The Game undefeated.

It's beginning to be difficult to list how flawed the team is, how bad the schedule has been and how wildly overrated they are by the media with any kind of succinctness.

My best attempt; 5.5 YPC teams that run it 50 times a game because they can't pass don't tend to do well in modern college football as soon as they play a team with a pulse.
