He's not all that but he is indeed a capable, experienced college QB who would be light years different than facing them with some kid who's never taken a snap before.

Big QB but very streaky....Wake Forest had some quality targets for him and he was very up and down. Against MSU he went 12/27 and disappeared in some games down the stretch...Clemson he was 6/14 with 2 INT's, take Utah State, Elon and Rice out of this year and he had a 15/10 TD/INT in the ACC.

* Looks like last 5 games of the year, only had 1 game with a completion percentage of at least 50%, a whopper 56% against Duke.

but we lost Nick Bosa in week 3 or whatever it was, so it wasn't like we had to replace a full year of his production. What we saw in '18 was second year Chase Young not quite ready to step up to 3rd year Nick Bosa's level just yet.

We also just lost three, 5th year SR studs in the middle which is just flat out way more productivity than Dremont Jones alone.

DL is going to be the strength of the defense next year. Harrison is going to (eventually) be the next great DE and there is a ton of talent still there to man the middle. I just don't think you can say there will be no dropoff at all in '20.

2nd year Harrison isn't, likely, going to be the monster that 3rd year Young was.

Cardale Jones and Ezekiel Elliott put on a show and helped Ohio State seal a 42-35 upset win that stunned the Crimson Tide. The following year, Alabama stormed through the playoff, which was capped by a 45-40 win over Clemson that featured a 24-point fourth quarter to seal the national title.

It was a tough loss for the Tigers, but they stormed their way back to the playoff the following season, blew out Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl and pulled off an instant classic by outscoring Alabama 21-7 in the fourth quarter to win the national championship 35-31.

The Tide had to live with giving away a lead in the literal final second of that game all offseason, which fueled another title run. Nick Saban's squad got revenge on Clemson with a grinding win over the Tigers before snagging the title away from Georgia in overtime.

And finally, that loss launched Clemson's historic 15-0 season in 2018 that gave Dabo Swinney his second national title in three years.

Hamler declaring for the draft is a gigantic blow for Ped State

Hamler 57 catches......every other WR on the roster 57, 12 of those catches go away with the Justin Shorter transfer as well.

They become quite a bit less scary offensively until they can prove to replace some of Hamler's playmaking ability

I love getting Cooper back, as I think he’s a solid player and with 6 years, he’s going to be a load. That’s a lot of physical and mental development.

I have no idea if they look into it, but I wonder about Baron Browning at DE. His quickness on the edge is pretty elite and he’s bulked up enough to handle it physically. He played around 250 lbs this year....I think he could add another 10 pretty easily and get into the 260 lb range.

I’m still really high on Baron, but I’m not sure his long-term future is at LB...at least MLB.

I’m a little surprised at how he’s been deployed in his time in Columbus. He was such a freakish athlete in HS I never envisioned him in the Middle. But then you see him coming on some blitzes, especially off the edge and the athleticism jumps off the screen. In some ways it reminds me of Sam Hubbard who came in as a safety and outgrew it. Baron played quite a bit of safety in HS as well....just a little surprised they settled on MLB and backup to Tuf...

Would love to see the staff put Baron in the same position the staff put Bobby Carpenter in 2005. His size and speed is honestly just not fair and that has to be utilized a little better IMO.

Alright finally ready to leave that Fiesta Bowl in the dust. Legit think the offense is going to be unstoppable. Teams are gonna get sick of tackling Teague by the middle of the second quarter. Fields, Olave, Wilson and possibly Jameson plus some of the '20 freshman are going to be lighting teams up through the air. Seriously, I can't wait to see the passing attack next year. Interior of the DL I honestly think is going to be better but yeah DE is going to be a major step back just from losing a force of nature like Chase Young. CBs are a major question mark of course. LB I don't feel quite as worried about. They went from disaster in 2019 to a pretty solid unit in 2019. I think they'll be a strength with Washington coaching them.

All in all I'm feel pretty optimistic. One thing is for sure, if we see Clemson again Day's dropping 50 on them no matter who the Tigers have on defense.

I agree. That will be a worry, but OSU does an amazing job at reloading talent. I could envision Saunders filling that middle of field, tough first down earning WR, either he or JSN. And I could see Gill as a Parris Campbell mismatch in space WR that takes apart defenses.

I really like what Teague brings to the backfield, but I see him as a complementary RB, and Crowley as the starter who softens up defenses for Teague to stomp them into submission.

I think 90% is realistic. People are selling stock on Teague at the wrong time. He wasn't good vs Clemson, but that's a really tough spot to be in and those plays against blitzing teams favor Dobbins' quickness. He'll do really well and his speed and power will lead to big plays. Crowley fills in the rest and will be very important as well.

KJ is harder to replace IMO, but the combo of Saunders and Gill could do well. I think a lot of that relies on Gill taking a big leap. He's faster and quicker, but obviously far less experienced. I think he could be potentially great in the slot though.

I hear you, but I have faith in Day. 2018 lost a lot more last year, including a Heisman-caliber first round QB, and got better imo. Only thing that keeps 2020 from breaking numerous records is the 1st team offense sitting entire halves.

I'd be ecstatic with 90%.

On Teague; It wasn't just Clemson. His last 4 games were underwhelming to say the least.

Not sure if there was an undisclosed injury or what the deal was but I don't think we're being honest with ourselves if we just write it off as a one game aberration.
