2019 tOSU Offense (Official Thread)

yup. If any opponent is going to have a chance in the 4th quarter to beat this team they'll need to sell out against the run and hope Fields doesn't make enough throws to beat them.
The thing is... I assume that if someone does shut down our run game Fields will make them pay. We just haven't needed him to air it out so far.

The dude throws for 70% and protects the ball. Any team that wants to have a chance against our offense needs either a dominant front 4 to try to control our running game without committing the back 7.

I found out that our passing yardage is rated at 67% percent. I thought we would be a lot better than that.

If you don’t mind could you clarify a bit as to what this means? Is this the percentage of our yards that is gained via passing? Team completion %? Yards passed is the 67th percentile in the country?

Just curious. I don’t think I have an issue with our completion percentage because we throw downfield quite a bit but I would need to see air yards per completion to say that more confidently. Probably for a PFF account.

My concern is holding onto the ball too long. Day has specifically said that this is largely by design but we don’t know how true that is albeit I can’t tjink of a reason he’d lie other than to avoid criticizing Fields publicly.

Furthermore, assuming that by design is true, I’d like to see us utilize aome underneath routes or checkdown routes more often to combat an aggressive pass rush. Downfield routes and poor protection against heavy blitzes typically don’t be mix well especially with a quarterback that has a slower release like Fields. M

I’ve digressed a bit because I type as I think. For this, I apologize.
