2019 tOSU Offense (Official Thread)

bukIpower

Head Coach
Lets get it going too... depth chart should be as so. If I'm missing someone please correct it!

QB-Martell (Haskins?)
RB- Dobbins/Teague/Snead
WR-Mack/Victor/Olave/Saunders/Harris/Garrett (Hill?)
TE- Farrell/Ruckert
T-Munford
G-Davis
C-Jordan
G-Bowen
T-Petit-Frere

All hinges on Haskins on so many things. How our offense operates and even who comes back I think (Hill). We have a shot to be very good here too provided the OL comes through. We will have the best tight end duo I think we've ever had, a primary RB which may actually help, and a very physical OL.

I have no problems either way either QB running the show. If Tate can operate the crossing route concepts he will be killer with another year under his belt. Obviously if its Dwayne the offense IMO will surpass this past seasons.

Overall if the OL is good this will be a dominant offense. 2019 shaping up so dang nice!

Per Pete Thamel, Day will likely keep his role as primary offensive play-caller:

2) Expect Day to continue calling plays for the Buckeyes in his new role as head coach. That decision hasn’t been officially made, but that’s the initial expectation. And it also makes sense. Day has proven to be a gifted play-caller and high-end developer of quarterbacks. He’s been the primary play-caller only this season, which has coincided with the sparkling debut of redshirt sophomore Dwayne Haskins, who re-wrote the Ohio State record book and set the Big Ten single-season record for both touchdowns (47) and passing yards (4,580) in his first season starting. Haskins has been consistently complimentary about Day’s role in his development, telling Yahoo Sports earlier this year: “At first as a freshman, you think you know protections, but you don’t know. I thought I had an idea before Coach Day came in, but I had no idea. Now it’s fun for me.”

I was thinking that Alabi provides us another option at OT. He has been solid in most of his appearances and provides us a veteran along the line. If he plays the other tackle spot opposite Munford and Bowen plays Guard the only newcomer would be Davis with three games under his belt. That's a pretty solid and veteran line. That's assuming Jordan returns.

Staff has been very impressed, Day's pro style preference, best pocket passer not named Dwayne on our team, etc.
I think Baldwin gets serious looks, but I think Tate will have the upper hand because he has one more year in the system, is a dynamic runner, a pretty decent passer, and has some game time. I think Tate is the starter this year with Baldwin getting clean-up reps (albeit more reps than Tate got this season). If Tate lights it up, along the lines of Johnny Manziel II, then he goes pro and Baldwin take over in 2020.

Itll certainly be a fight if/when Haskins leaves

That's the way I see it... Tate has just had far too many reps to just get passed over.

Then again Baldwin is from Lake Travis...

I’ve seen enough from Tate to be comfortable as long as the O line plays well. Gives us a duel threat and has been getting better as a passer. If Baldwin is neck and neck with him for starter I will be happy with having 2 guys who could be #1 I think Tate gets the edge and starts though. I think he’ll be a solid leader much like JT was.
