2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

Not sure what context you're implying here but I feel we would handle UCF pretty soundly. They simply refuse to play a lick of defense meanwhile we have Cases and the Dline.
Because beating UCF means nothing especially if Scott Frost isn't coaching. We have way more talent and there is no way we should lose. At least USC is a power conference champ and apparently has the top NFL prospect at QB

Continuing to travel down memory lane ...

2015 Buckeyes had 132 yds against Sparty playing at home!
Sparty had 294 yds playing their 2nd/3rd String qb's.

But yes, imo if 2015 Buckeyes played 2015 'bama they win 9 out of 10 times. Even in the frickin' Sugar Bowl!

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!! *** HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

Deserve's got nothing to do with it. Ohio State was one of the four best teams in the country in 2015. Bowl results, playoff results, NFL draft results, NFL production all prove it, unequivocally.

You can lose to Michigan St on a walk-off FG and still be the better team.

All I expect from the CFP committee is consistency.

They didn't make the playoffm so there are no "playoff results", bowl results and the NFL stuff all happened well after the selection. You couldn't put tOSU in over MSU after they beat us head to head, in our house, and they won the CCG. At the time they appeared to be the better team, it was the right call. By everything you could judge in early December, they were absolutely the better team. They proved it on the field. Ohio State had more talent, clearly, but they weren't playing like the better team.

My point is, it's more about the other teams around tOSU that makes the decision, not only tOSU and their performance. 2015 tOSU gets in ahead of Bama if that situation happened in 2017.

Let the G5 have their crumbs off the table. It keeps the peace. Besides, every few years, it would probably be a very intriguing matchup. Nevada in 2010. Houston a couple of years ago. A couple of those Boise teams.
Not sure if UCF's offense could hang with Clemson's defense. Clemson's offense could put up 70 on the UCF defense...

Not thrilled about going to the Fiesta Bowl AGAIN. Ohio State has not beaten USC since 1974. 7 losses in a row. And would it not be fitting that Sam Darnold beats OSU and then gets drafted by the Browns? Think about it.

I'm looking forward to getting that fucking Trojan monkey off our program's back. If the right JT shows up, I think we can conceivably plunger these fucks.

Totally OK with the outcome. The CFP is about picking the best team. I don't think tOSU is a contender for the best team in the country. Neither does Alabama but you have to put someone in that 4th spot. This is just one of those years that the BCS would have worked better. Clemson vs. OU would be a great CG. Hopefully we end up with that.

For those talking about 2015, every year is different. Yes the 2015 team was more deserving than 2017 Alabama, but the other teams that made it in that year were more deserving than tOSU. 2015 tOSU in the 2017 situation, even considering the same situation with 2017 Alabama, tOSU makes it in ahead of them.

I LoL'd when Jesse " Ken Doll" Palmer said he thought we were one of the top 4 teams. I think he drew the Short straw and had to say that. There's no 4th elite team this year. Unless it's UCF and the committee wouldn't take the chance to even see. If there was a year to put one of those teams in, it was this one. I wouldn't have cared. Better than Bama. If they're simply going by the "eye test" they're better than either of us.

Beating an undefeated team in a New years six bowl most certainly means something.

Nah, worse. Mayfield will win the Heisman, get crushed by Clemson then the Brownies will go on to take his stupid ass #1 overall.

I'd guess that #1-G5 matchup would be a blowout at least half the time, but I think you'd have some really good games too and maybe an upset every six or seven years. 2010 is intriguing because if Boise beats UNR, they would have hosted a game in Boise. And Nevada playing the #1 team that year would have been intriguing because you'd have had Alabama trying to defend Kaepernick and the pistol when nobody knew how the hell to deal with it.
