2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

Here's one guy's opinion.....

I think I’d be okay if Ohio State misses the College Football Playoff

[. . .]

Entire article: https://www.landgrantholyland.com/2...e-football-playoff-big-ten-wisconsin-michigan
I read that and the other similar articles today. I think a large portion of us fans feel very similarly. I won't be upset if Ohio State isn't in the Playoff, nor overly worried if they are (as some profess to be). It is a coin flip to me in many possible scenarios. Some part of me wants UCF to get a shot. . . but just for kicks, and that isn't in any scenario I can see.

At this point I'm fine with not going to the CFP this team has some major flaws that I don't want to see exposed on a national stage(again). Can't guard TEs, if O'Korn was an even average QB he would've gashed us and possibly won yesterday with some wide open players in the middle of the field. The LBs and S have a hard time covering in space and are a passing game liability. I know it depends on what OSU team shows up, and thats a problem. We shouldn't have to guess which team shows up. Elite teams don't. That Iowa loss will haunt us, and we don't deserve to be in the top 4 based off of that pathetic loss, I don't care if it was at Kinnick or not.

I'm content with whatever NY6 bowl we're chosen for. Playing the SEC championship loser, PAC 12 winner(doubt they put a team in), ND(don't ever get tired of beating them) or even a rematch of the 2002 NC and playing Miami if they they lose to Clemson. All those scenarios would be entertaining IMO.

For me, if they look very good and beat Wisconsin by let's say a score of 34-17, outgain them 500-300 yards, and they're left out I'll be upset. If they win something like 27-24, equal yardage, and are left out for bana it wouldn't kill me since I'd put their chances of beating Clemson at 10%. But I do think if they are looking good (17 point victory) it could be they just suck on the road and they have a decent chance of beating Clemson.

Boom.

Two top 10 wins if we win out and a loss to a top 4 team.

We have an extra loss but then again we will have played an extra game.

Boy it will be close. . But if bama is #4 like I suspect they will be then I have no idea how they hold #4 while not playing
First: We would have played 2 extra games. FCS opponents don't count, and I'd like to see Miami placed ahead of Georgia and Bama as a reward for playing 12 FBS teams.

1-3 Really doesn't matter. I think they give Wisconsin the nod at 4. When you look at their schedules, Miami, Bama and Georgia are all shit and deserve the 5-7 spots. Georgia's two ranked wins are ND and Miss St (probably unranked now). Bama's are LSU and Miss St (again, probably unrnaked). Miami has ND and VaTech, which is slightly better. Wisconsin only has NW, but keeps on winning.

Can't say I disagree with this take. Just don't trust this team to show up and play for 4 quarters twice against elite competition. I could see a game where JT plays out of his mind once, like in the Penn State game, but not twice. LB play is flat out terrible and should get Davis canned this season. Right now I'm just hoping we win another B1G Championship and JT gets to ride off into the sunset a winner these last two games.

Here’s what we’re missing:

This game is a win-win for us. If we knock off Whisky, we’ll have another win over a top 5 team and could keep Bama out. If Whisky wins, they will deserve it and definitely knock Bama out of the conversation. Far as I’m concerned, we’re playing with house money.

I will be there to congratulate the Badgers should they get the job done or to celebrate another awesome victory.

Either way? One of us has the opportunity to knock Bama out. That’s a win, no matter how you slice it.

This. LOL.... imagine if they put in USC or TCU instead of Bama. Satan his fans would lose their minds. I'd actually prefer to win the B1G but get passed over but NOT FOR BAMA.

It would be so incredibly ridiculous to have Auburn win the SEC and force them to play Bama again if both make it to the big game. Why should they have to do that? Not a chance in hell the committee would EVER set something like that up in the B1G (and they could've last year). Putting Bama in could also set up yet another Clemson-bama NC game. Who in the blithering fuck wants to see that again?

I don't care...put USC, UCF, TCU, Ohio State even fucking Tree! Bama needs to sit this one out. Last year was a fantastic example of why you shouldn't be in if you lose your conference.

So, it looks like we're predicted to be #6 in the AP today. That poll doesn't really matter, I know, but if the writers really see it that way there's a slim chance the committee might as well. They have been really similar. IF that happens, Buckeyes win and their in. 6th is where I've been hoping they can climb to before the BiG championship game. That would set up perfectly. If they are 7th or lower, I dont think it happens.

We can easily pass two but the third jump in the final week would be just too much. Everyone worrying about the LBs (me included) have to remember we get an extra month to prepare for these bowl games. If they work on some schemes, they could pull it off in the playoff. One week, yeah, I'd be less optimistic. Regardless, we all know we can run the ball on anyone and if enough raising hell happened to wake up the coaching we might just lean on it again and win the whole fucking thing.

Sadly, the only way I see us getting in is to blow the doors off Wisconsin while Satan sits at home eating cheese food.
