2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

As we get closer and closer to the game on Monday, the inevitable dread that comes with being a sports fan from Georgia is starting to pour in.

The Falcons are going to lose to Carolina and be knocked out of the playoffs
Georgia is going to lose to Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl

And this will be me on Tuesday morning:

Well...at least you have the Braves....errr....maybe not....

What those who played in the last postseason bowl trilogy expect from Alabama-Clemson III

Archie Griffin expects Alabama-Clemson III to be a very physical game with few surprises to those involved. Both teams mostly know what they’ll see out of each other, and they both know exactly what it takes to win.

“That’s what it really boils down to,” Griffin told The Athletic this week. “These teams know each other extremely well.”

Griffin knows the feeling. His Ohio State teams played USC in three consecutive Rose Bowls from 1973 to 1975. The Trojans won the first in lopsided fashion, the Buckeyes returned the favor in the second, and USC edged Ohio State, 18-17 in the third meeting.

And members of both of those teams will be watching the closest thing college football has seen since their own semi-permanent postseason pairing with a familiar foe.

“I always notice the chirping,” J.K. McKay, the former USC wide receiver, told The Athletic this week. “I think it’s interesting and funny, if it doesn’t get out of hand.”

Otherwise, McKay said he watches the game like any other college football fan. He pays particular attention to the passing game and individual one-on-one matchups because of his background, so he’ll be keeping an eye on Hunter Renfrow, Clemson’s 5-10, 180-pound former walk-on receiver who has torched the Tide for four touchdowns in the past two meetings, including last year’s championship winner.

“That’s bizarre,” McKay said. “As good as Alabama is, that’s amazing.”

PHEW! It's a good think the CFP committee accurately ruled Bama as "UNEQUIVOCALLY" better than OSU, therefore they were able to bypass resumes and put in Bama over OSU with the clearly better resume. Sure would be embarrassing seeing this OSU team, who is only up 24-0 with arguably their best defensive player sitting, play Clemson right now.

I loved how they tried to justify Bama at the end of the game when they got bored

How many top teams do we have to beat for people to be satisfied? Do you folks actually think Alabama, Clemson, and UGA are lightyears ahead of Penn State, Wisconsin and USC?

And yet, you spent most of last night's game crying like a spoiled child who didn't get what he wanted for Xmas.

Would've liked another shot at OU and I think they match up well with Georgia. I also think they beat Alabama.

But last night they simultaneously beat the shit out of USC and showed that they weren't taking out Clemson. In the end I can't be too upset with a Cotton Bowl win and motivation for next year. I just hope Mayfield or Satan Jr get it done.

That would be meaningful if there was only one game that factored into whether a team gets in or not
That game has been mentioned by virtually everyone, from the committee head to commentators to analysts to talking heads, as the main factor of our not getting in. Not only "one game" factored in, but it clearly was a big enough factor to keep us from getting in.
