2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

Would've liked another shot at OU and I think they match up well with Georgia. I also think they beat Alabama.

But last night they simultaneously beat the [Mark May] out of USC and showed that they weren't taking out Clemson. In the end I can't be too upset with a Cotton Bowl win and motivation for next year. I just hope Mayfield or Satan Jr get it done.
Eh I'm not sure any of the top 4 puts up more than 21 other than maybe Oklahoma last night. The problem is it might have been a 7-7 game with 2 or 3 of them.

No way Bama puts up 21 on this defense right now, nor UGA with that frosh QB. We're too good against the run and Ward would be playing in a playoff which gives me great confidence in the DBs right now too.

Depends on if the coaches turtle on offense and close the playbook in fear, which is how they've done for a long time now. There's enough talent on this team to win a championship, it just doesnt always translate on game day.

Yeah that offensive performance last night would have gotten OSU blasted for a 2nd straight year. Not even mad. Beating up on USC is a great consolation prize.
Tresselball at its finest looks like bad offense. If USC was scoring points, I have no doubt OSU plays vastly different offensively. How many passed down the field were there in the 2nd half when you're up 3 scores the entire half? I personally don't think they beat Clemson, but I wouldn't say that they have no shot.

No, it wasn't. No team that loses by 31 points and gives up 55 points to a mediocre team should get into the playoffs, conference champ or not.
as well there should be a baseline of "if you are not a conference champion, you have to have a non-shit resume." Anytime people point to the Iowa game, they mistake people saying OSU should have been #4 by saying "OSU doesn't compare at all to a regular playoff team!" And that is accurate. But they should be compared to only to 2017 Bama. Who is the first playoff team out of the 16 total playoff teams that are in no way deserving. Don't compare 2017 OSU to the 15 deserving playoff teams. Compare them to 2017 Bama, the only non-deserving playoff team.

No. 6 Wisconsin holds off No. 10 Miami in Orange Bowl; Big Ten goes 7-0 in bowls

The Wolverines and Gamecocks both bring 8-4 records into the game. They have met in the Outback Bowl before, and that Jan. 1, 2013, meeting is remembered more for a singular play than the actual outcome.

I was disappointed that Clowney did not play for Ohio State. He made up for it on that play.

You hit the nail on the head. OSU had all the talent it needed this year, and it’s best game was good enough to beat anybody in the nation. For whatever reason, they were inconsistent.

Rumors in the Bama circles are that there is a “Tua package” in place in case the Bama offense becomes stagnant (again). The defense is apparently still showing a lack of cohesion in practice. Some guys still aren’t 100% and nobody has played together much. There isn’t much confidence that this Bama team will get it done tomorrow.

I’m most excited to see the Oklahoma game. How will that amazing offense perform against a good defense? Is their defense better than people are saying? Can they take advantage of UGA having a freshman qb?
