2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

That's an interesting observation. Unfortunately, it happens to be the wrong one.

UCF @ Clemson
USC @ Oklahoma
Cheese @ Georgia
Ohio State @ Alabama
Yeah, because when you can't make a credible argument for anyone for 4th place, you should go ahead and invite 5 unworthy people :roll1:

Hey Ohio State, you can go ahead and lose the Illibuck too. You're still getting in (because an 8 team playoff absolutely would have CCG play-ins).

Instead of expanding to 8 teams they should just change the criteria for choosing the 4 and make it a little less subjective.

1.) The four teams must be a champion of a power conference unless....

a.) one of the conference champions has 3 losses
b.) Another team has 3 top ten victories
c.) a conference champion has not beaten a ranked opponent.

This would be great. Brings importance back to winning your conference, and can only be overtaken when another team has really been impressive.

Well by the committees own spoken logic we did get screwed.

I couldn't care less about some blowhard's comments. When you lose by 15 at home and by 31 on the road - to a 5 loss team - you have no logical reason to be deemed one of the four best teams in the country. No team with that sort of resume' has so much as sniffed a title game in FBS football.

i disagree with any system that unequivocally states that two teams from the same conference can't be two of the four best teams in the nation.

It doesn't state that.

I'm open to that possibility but that non champion must have a certain number of big wins or another conference champion must be lacking in big wins
a requirement of three top 10 wins is arbitrary and relies too much on the whims of other teams. though your proposal doesn't outright exclude two teams from the same conference, it does in effect. i'd much rather see a playoff expansion than guaranteeing berths in a 4-team playoff.

My guess is this will be the lower rated than last years... 3 teams from the same geographic area and Oklahoma... Bama v Clemson part 3 will be the lowest of hte bunch...

Trilogies really aren't a good idea unless they're planned (Star Wars, Indiana Jones). I'm pretty sure no one was running out to see Mighty Ducks 3 opening weekend.
