2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

If we want to go solely on the eyeball test then I say let's put Auburn in.

Lost a close game AT Clemson
Destroyed Mississippi State who Alabama struggled with
Regrettably lost in a very tough environment AT LSU although Alabama played LSU close at Alabama
Destroyed UGA
Beat Alabama soundly

At this point it's clear Auburn has a much better resume than Alabama. But now they get to be punished for beating Alabama! They have to play an extra game vs Georgia without their star player!

That's all well and fine then. Tell Holcutt to quit making up metrics to say Ohio State is a million times worse then Alabama and just say 31 point loss and we thought they were better.
I think the 31 point loss is part and parcel why we are not in it, and I agree wholeheartedly. I don't particularly care what anybody else says as reasoning.

I just want Gene to walk over to Holcutt and ask him so how would you have voted if the Big Ten only had to play 8 games like the SEC and Ohio State got to play Mercer instead of Iowa. How can Holcutt defend this?

So let's say Auburn scheduled New Mexico State instead of Clemson. How could you justify Alabama getting in over them? you can make this argument repeatedly.

Another example of a team getting punished for playing a tough out of conference schedule

Or even if you want to say they tries with FSU. Drop Iowa for citadel/mercer cause of the extra conference game.

I wish someone would have called so much bullshit when they say they scheduled Mercer cause no one would play them

We can do USC too. Cross Notre Dame of USC schedule and insert Mercer.

Oh look now USC is in over Alabama. This is a disgrace. No thought went into this decision

We might have seen the end of Out Of Conference powerhouse matchups early in the season. Why would Ohio State schedule the likes of Oklahoma, Texas or USC on the second game of the year if an early loss would take away the Mulligan of a loss to an Iowa or a Wisconsin? Yes it is nice for recruiting to be in those matchups but it is also good for recruiting to be in the playoff. The pick of Alabama is going to hurt the real people who control College football, the TV networks.

In the grand scheme of things I have no problem with it. Just don't lie about it is all I ask.

A week ago the committee said numerous times that Alabama and Ohio State were comparable teams. A week later Ohio State beats a Top 4 team on a neutral field and wins their conference. Alabama is stuck at home. Suddenly Alabama is unequivocally a better team than Ohio State because...why?

I mean I absolutely hear what you're saying with the Iowa loss. I 100% agree with it. The problem is the committees own words suggested that, even with that loss, Ohio State was comparable to Alabama. If that Iowa loss was so bad the committee should have kept OSU around 12th or 13th.

I'm not pissed that we didn't get in. Well I am but it's something I could get over. I'm more pissed that the committee's logic changes week to week and they can't get their story straight. The committee could have made this easy on themselves and they blew it.

I think they were counting on Wiscy making it easy on them. Guarantee everyone in that room was wearing a cheesehead.
