2016-2017 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

i wouldn't mind seeing both on the floor for a few minutes each game. potter is not a back-to-the-basket player. he's likely best outside of 8 feet.
john porentas (mr. ed) from ozone asked matta during the postgame about playing thompson and potter together.

mr. ed:

Thad says they have looked at playing them together and said it was absolutely a possibility. The fly in the ointment is on the defensive end and how do you match up to guard, but they are looking at it.

I think they could actually play Potter at stretch 4 with Thompson at the 5 and maybe try a little zone on defense with their length to protect the defenciency in man to man defense. Worth a freaking try at minimum. Certainly wont lose anything on defense with Loving out on that end.

Yeah, I thought the same thing when I read the post above yours. Matta hates to play zone and with the way teams jack-up three-pointers these days I guess I do not blame him.

Hard to find anything about the Marshall game the evening before The Game but here is a little bit. All I have to say is that the basketball Buckeyes better beware and get off to a good start.
Buckeyes Conclude Play in Global Sports Invitational
The game vs. Marshall (Friday, 7 p.m./BTN) is the fourth and final Ohio State hosts in the 2016 Global Sports Invitational. The Buckeyes defeated North Carolina Central (69-63, Nov. 14), Western Carolina (66-38, Nov. 21) and Jackson State (78-47) in the first three games of the event for Ohio State.

Scouting Marshall
Marshall enters the game at Ohio State 4-0 with wins over North Carolina Central (81-69), Morehead State (85-77), Western Carolina (98-63) and Jackson State (71-61). After four home wins, Marshall has four players averaging 10 or more points a game. Senior guard Stevie Browning (15.0), junior guard Jon Elmore (19.0), junior forward Terrence Thompson (14.5) and senior guard Austin Loop (10.3) have all been successful on the offensive end. Thompson leads the team with 7.3 rebounds a game.
